Cross is only 24.
would love this move
I'd be thrilled with Cross or Brisker.
I'm in the boat for him.

Here are the PFF ratings/rankings for Brown, Mustapha, and Nick Cross

Brown Ranked #52 among all Safeties Run Defense - 71. Coverage 59

Mustapha #58 RD - 62, Coverage - 60

Nick Cross #66 RD - 72, Coverage - 50

We need a good cover safety, but from these numbers, Nick Cross is not the Safety we are looking for.

So you think Cross would be better than the guys we have now?

On what basis? I'm curious.

On the basis that I have eyes.
Nick Cross is a fast safety who played in the backfield by himself. Jay Linn Hawkins would be a good fit as well. Only thing needed is for JL to get his head outta his a** and make a move for a young playmaker. He went with a 33 yr old wr when he coulda had a younger player.

...and the eyes of professional analysts who do it for a living, say your eyes are deceiving you.

What "younger player" did you have in mind?

I'm no expert but at no point during my decades of watching football have I ever thought that I needed "professional" analysts to tell me whether a player was good, bad or somewhere in between and if that day ever comes its time for me to stop watching football.

How often do you watch a game and think a player had a great game and then when the PFF ratings come out telling a different story you think to yourself damn I was wrong?

Thib, Brian Thomas Jr, Michael Wilson Jackson Powers Johnson, Michael Mayer, Cole kmet, Jay Linn Hawkins,

Thib: no idea if available or for what

BTJ: no idea if available or for what. Questionable fit.

Michael Wilson: no idea if available or what, and would require a trade from divisional rival

JPJ: no idea if available or for what. I still believe in him as a talent, but has underperformed in the NFL

Michael Mayer: no idea if available or for what

Cole Kmet: no idea if available, yet to be cut

Hawkins: apparently no one in any rush to sign him

Mike Evans: does not preclude the 49ers from making any of these other moves.

Nick cross: unless everyone is an undercover colts fan or avid tape grinder, i have a feeling most are operating off of his predraft hype. He was a webzone favorite iirc.
