The Bungles aren't releasing him. This would be a move I'd agree with if we didn't address this very postion in the first round of this year. So this move makes no sence. For lack of a better word, this would be a panic move, and an expensive one at that. I have no doubt that Trey Hendrickson would be a difference maker on our defense. But we just addresed this position with our first round pick. Granted, picks were waisted. But we can't focus on that. That is an exercise of futility. We should pass on this move and lean on Williams, who we drafted in the fist in this year.

The only problem is I'll be surprised if the Bengals take anything less than a 2nd for him. He may be a free agent but being able to franchise tag him is still valuable, and many other contenders (aside from the Ravens for obvious reasons) will likely be calling them. The Rams traded a 2nd AND 3rd for Von Miller in 2021 and the Bengals will probably want a similar deal.
We really, really can't afford to keep blowing high draft capital, especially after FINALLY learning how to draft high. If Bengals take just a 3rd I would do it in a heartbeat. That's the perfect way to fill in for Bosa for the rest of the season. But it'll probably take a 2nd unless Hendrickson just really underperforms the next six games.
But then again… we suck at drafting 2nd rounders so at that point whatever lol

A team trading for him (especially midseason) is not going to have to pay all of that.

Do it. From TK article
McCaffrey was an easy fit because, due to several restructurings with Carolina, his base salary was barely over $1 million. Hmm, after Hendrickson's recent restructuring, his 2025 base salary is $16 million. That's a lot more than $1 million but still far from the mega-salaries of other top edge rushers.

Wouldn't it be less than $16M, depending on how many games he's played?

I'd say if a replacement level player becomes available they need to go for it. 3 ACL's, 2nd in that knee????😬.I'd personally retire. If Saleh stays next year, and the young D comes into it's own and Pearsall becomes a 2nd number one then……Next year would be window open with another draft.Do you trust that knee(s)to be a starting, critical piece, on a team going on a run????

He will definetely be on the trade market if the Bengals are out of it by the deadline. Because I don't see them giving him an extension in the offseason and will want to get something for him, other than a 3rd RD comp pick.

We use to be bad at drafting in rd 2, but we solved that problem!
I think Alfred Collins is gonna be very good

If 49ers trade for Hendrickson:
We would retain the ability to franchise tag him, so we'd have him for another year at $34 mil
If he left in free agency we would receive a 3rd rd comp pick
So if they gave up a 2nd and a future 4th, It'd be a good deal

NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah says the Cincinnati #Bengals could trade DE Trey Hendrickson for a 2026 third-round pick plus an additional later-round pick.

Do you believe the #49ers should do it?👀

Probably, most of them do.
The value i would have thought would be send a '26 1st, get a '26 3rd and then likely a '27 3rd round comp.
