Bro, they're not spending the cash lol. This was reported weeks ago. All the guys that have left were all pretty much leaving and we knew it.
everything that's happening isn't shocking. Jed's burned through a ton of real money the past 5 yrs to try and win it all. Almost got there. Now it's time to retool and get younger…which happens via the draft.
I'm sure they will sign some under the radar guys so we have bodies heading into the draft….but it's time for them to get new blood and rebuild it back up like they did a couple yrs ago.
So in reality lets watch someone else win the Super Bowl in Santa Clara? 49ers have stayed competitive because they added through free agency and not just rely on the draft the whole way.
This is what we did in free agency in 2023 the year we went to the Super Bowl
Anthony Averett
Anthony Brown
Austin Bryant
Brandon Allen
Chris Conley
Clelin Ferrell
Darryl Johnson
Isaiah Oliver
Javon Hargrave
Jon Feliciano
Logan Ryan
Matt Pryor
Sam Darnold
Terrance Mitchell
None of those players game changes. Hargraves did ok but he wasn't great.

Don't do that. For one, the 49ers had a healthy Greenlaw, now they have none. They had a healthy Charvarius Ward, now they have none. You get the picture, the 49ers had a stacked roster, all they really needed was Hargrave. That roster has been watered down drastically.

Exactly or trade or cut???? We can't expect solid starters right away from the draft. Lynch better start to get his s**t together today or tomorrow

Jedrick Wills - excelled in college as an RT, moved by the Browns to LT, and didn't do well. We sign him and try him at Guard or swing backup with Moore gone.
Dalton Risner - mid-tier left guard that provides additional assurances not to force a need pick vs. BPA.
Josh Myers - not getting a lot of sniffs in FA. If we can sign him for a budget deal, he'd bolster competition at C. It's a weak draft class.
DeMarcus Walker - if we can't secure Joey Bosa, Walker would be a great run stuffing EDGE player with some upside as a 3T on passing downs. He was released by the bears, so he wouldn't count against the comp pick formula.
Dante Fowler Jr. - ties with Saleh. A bit duplicative with Floyd already on the roster, but could be a nice rotational piece.
Jeremiah Ledbetter - solid year in JAX, stout against the run with some good upside as a pass rusher. We'd lose some pressure but gain better run defense if we swap Collins with Ledbetter.
Levi Onwuzurike - could be a nice additional as a pass rushing interior DT with some upside as a DE. Only spiked during his contract year, so I wouldn't give him more than a 1 year, incentive laden deal.
Brandin Echols / Asante Samuel Jr / Benjamin St-Juste - depth signings with starting experience, the first two can play inside and out. Sign them for like a 1 year, $3-5M deal, and it alleviates us needing to draft a CB early.
Onwuzurike is a legit DT. I'm surprised he hasn't been signed yet. Young too.
Him and Samuel Jr and I'm out (maybe Bosa too).

I'm sure they're gonna add some cheaper vets that can contribute. I doubt they spend top of the market money on guys their own team didn't want to resign.
FA isn't a great way to build your team, especially this class.
I wouldn't get too worked up over all of it.

He was signed less than what the 49ers gave Hargrave at the same age. Just admit you're overreacting.

Emmanuel Moseley
Jimmie Ward
Jimmy Garoppolo
Mike McGlinchey
Robbie Gould
Samson Ebukam
Thats a lot of starters...

I just want to win the Super Bowl, this roster has a lot of holes, they're not winning the Super Bowl by being cheap and staying safe.

I mean we got multiple solid starters from the draft last yr.
eagles got a couple on their way to win a SB. Got some lower end signings to show up and ball out.
Damn near all our higher end FA signings have been failures.

Everyone knew Banks and Huf were going to get paid and we weren't going to pay them which is absolutely the right move. Hargrave's salary was way too much and Ward left due to personal issues. Greenlaw is the only gut punch here but it was also kinda expected with news of hos going away party.
Nothing has really changed much but you guys are freaking out over not overpaying these players. Build through the draft. Plus it forces the young guys we do draft into playing time. I'd rather them play the rookie than some 29 year old on a one year deal.
Well, what would you call the strategy of (rightfully) letting go of the majority of once star level players and replacing them with, not free agents, but draft picks?

Jalen Carter was drafted in 2023 and Milton Williams already on the roster. So I guess we wait two years to win the Super Bowl.

And Hargrave wasn't a good signing!!! Lets learn from the past.
Me overreating? You're the one on here about to jump off cliff because we havent signed any of these overpriced cast offs.

They're not winning a Super Bowl paying Allen $60M or banks $77M
still a ton of decent players out there that can contribute. The draft is where it's gonna happen for this team going forward. That's kinda the case with most well run teams .
