I've always been a bit scared of going after Patriot CBs. They really do thrive in that scheme and they have BB coaching them up, who's a genius when it comes to DBs.
So many of those guys have gone to different teams and not produced that well or never played as good as they did in NE.

True. Then you have guys like Aqib Talib, whose first Pro Bowl year was in New England, but then who had four more Pro Bowl seasons, along with an All Pro year in Denver. Butler is the only real bust I can think of. Gilmore was injured, but PFF ranked him very high, and for some reason he was a PB alternate.
I can't think of any New England cb that had multiple Pro Bowl seasons in NE but then failed elsewhere. Butler was a PBer just one season.

Great man corner. I wouldn't go crazy breaking the bank for him, tho. There are no true shutdown corners anymore with the way the rules are. All the best guys get beat—a lot.
My question is why is the hoodie letting him leave? The best DB coach in the game that values DB play more than anyone is just letting him walk. Why? The Patriots have the money to keep him.
JC Jackson had character red flags and quite a few off-field issues in college. I wonder if that has anything to do with it. Buyer beware. 👀

I think he's letting him go cause Bill wants discipline in assignments over interceptions. JC takes chances and it probably drives Hoodie up the wall even though they haven't burned them much he knows it will eventually.

He measured 5'10 at the combine, not sure if that matters for a #1 CB. He can play slot too!

Could also be because he's about to command 15 million.

I'd rather hack BB's cornerback draft sheet...he's been great at drafting that position.

Posted this elsewhere but fits here:
Possible red flags:
He was undrafted. Would probably want to be able to explain why this happened. Talent? Character concerns?
Also Bill B is on the Mt Rushmore of coaching. Is what Jackson is doing simply playing in the Bill B scheme?
Is it telling in any way that the Pats are willing to let him walk. I mean they have a rookie QB contract should have money available to tag or resign and they are passing on this guy. They had him in the building every day and if he was all that wouldn't they not let him leave?
Not against him per se just asking the questions any club should ask before paying him fat dollars.

The film doesn't lie. He's good. There could be some character issue that the Patriots only know. Or maybe they feel like they can keep drafting corners who work well in their system and don't need to pay him. But it's not because he's not actually good. The eye test doesn't lie.
