Gardiner Minshew interest at QB?

I seriously don't get the f**king hype with Minshew. At least what I perceive as hype, he basically has the same TD/INT ratio as Jimmy but less talented. People only care about Minshew mania which is just a stupid cult thing. He's not a viable starter, he was benched after 1 game returning to start in favor of friggin Mike Glennon. Not impressive. Is he a better back up the Mullins/Beathard? Yeah but not a regular season starter IMO.

Just go draft a dude high and keep Rosen in as a backup. Hell go pay Hoyer a bucket of chicken to be the backup instead of trading away picks.

I'd swap 5ths with them 155 for 170...if they say no tell Baalke to S a D.

Tell us how you really feel about Minshew

If we don't draft a QB early and we are in the 5th round I would trade one of those picks for him. Has shown he can play in this league, even with questionable coaching and his weapons have been meh. He's still young and very cheap.

I see the intrigue as well and he'd be a quality backup on this team, no doubt. I'm wondering now, though, with the Jags' Beathard acquisition and word out that Minshew might be available that more teams might want to be in on him, especially with his salary combined w/ his abilities. Not sure how much that would drive up the draft compensation to acquire him.

I don't think people are wanting him to be the starter or franchise QB. If you trade a 5th or 6th rounder for him and he comes in when Jimmy inevitably gets hurt again and can win some games that's worth it to me.

Yeah I agree he's a viable backup just not a starter. The Minshew mania thing is a cool marketing gimmick but nothing more.

I think people just want him bc he could feasibly keep us afloat (unlike our backups last year).

His cap hits are like 900k for the next two years. Makes sense, he is miles better than what we've had at backup

According to Jag fans, he was benched bcJax was tanking. He wasnt fully 100% kind of like when Jimmy tried to come back.

All we are saying is look what he's done with a sorry Jax team. We all make excuses for QBs stuck on bad teams but here is one guy who is putting up good numbers with one of the roster and coaching staff in the NFL the last 2 years. Plus no one is saying bring him in and let him be our franchise QB. Let him be a backup.

That's how much I care about the backup position...if you have a legit starting QB then it shouldn't be a discussion to begin with.
