Gardiner Minshew interest at QB? | Page 7

Didn't see a thread on him yet so guess I'll start one. Hearing rumors about our supposed interest in the Stache. I went to WSU so I feel I have a pretty good handle on Minshew. Pros: He has a bit of "it" factor. He throws an incredibly catchable ball. He has a decent arm. He's very likeable and a good kid. He'd be super cheap!!!! Cons: He lacks experience. He wasn't a high draft choice for no reason. His arm is decent. Seemed to lose confidence with each start when he did start for Jax. He'll probably be band aid QB at best until we can find a star QB. He's probably at his ceiling already. But I do think he'd work well in Shanny's offense. He gets rid of the ball quickly and has some smarts. Interesting rumor!

Pretty much. Unless the 49ers trade Jimmy on draft day. And then acquire Minshew to start the season before the rookie comes in. Very unlikely though haha

Good possibility this happens. Doesn't turn the ball over much and just under $1million wont effect the signing of other players post June 1. Trading 1 of 3 5th rd picks wont hurt too much. Jimmy G should be traded now and Minshew should be traded for ASAP. Start going over playbook and possible players only workouts with WRs

Yep still super possible. Shanahan and Lynch always wanted to draft whoever it is that we will be drafting. The fact that we were interested in Bridgewater, Dalton, Flacco, and Minshew prove that they were trying to find a cheaper backup for the rookie or possible bridge QB that can start the first half of the season

KS was very high on Rosen coming out of college. Either him or Minshew will probably start first 6 games while rookie QB gets somewhat used to playbook. Gonna be interesting who are FA after June 1.

Asking this legitimately because I'm not up on my Jaguars football...

What was the reason they benched Minshew? I know he came out on a hot streak and he fizzled out. But the top line numbers are good. Maybe not franchise QB worthy, but not a trash QB either.

From an outside perspective it just seemed like they had so many other issues on the team that he's shouldered the blame for. But I have no idea either. I just really like his film for the most part.

His stat line looks good but then you get to his terrible QBR dropping throughout the season

... he must have given allot of games away late or something. Maybe like how Beathard would seemingly do well but then whenever anything clutch was needed he would sh*t the bed.

Jags basically went full rebuild before the season started. Go off of his 2019 tape as his potential. 2020 was a mess for that entire franchise.

He could be a trade target for us still if we trade Jimmy G. Fields / Minshew / Rosen isn't bad.

I think if we traded Jimmy I would rather bring in Alex for 2021.

Would be pretty cool to end up winning a super bowl with Alex Smith.

Bringing in Minshew would have made sense if we traded away Jimmy but now that we are keeping him around its safe to say that we won't be seeing Minshew in a Niner uniform
