If i'm the Dolphins i'm keeping Waddle and signing Malik Willis as QB. I'd want to see what he can do with a halfway decent WR group now that he has a few years in the league.

I really don't get the Willis stuff, bro is Fields 2.0. He can't process or throw with anticipation. His mechanics were f**king awful coming out of college. So you're gonna toss down $60M to see if he can play?

The phins are in complete rebuild mode. They aren't gonna be magically good in a yr. So why not get a Mac jones who's paycheck is next to nothing for a yr? Waddle deal is gonna be up before the team is even gonna be good again. Load up on picks. They're running a Kyle scheme, so get a QB that can actually run it.

He is a good scheme fit, knows the system playing under McDaniel (seems like a good dude which is HUGE nowadays with WRs) and has shown willingness to block but idk if I'd give up top draft capital and more with his contract for slightly above average production.

This. I would rather use that money towards Chubb. Knock DE out as a major need, allowing them to focus on S, WR, OG and DT in the draft.

Trade Mac for a 2nd and use it to take BPA among those positions at that pick.

They could still afford Chubb or whomever. Waddle's cap hit would be like $17M or something. That's more than reasonable for a guy that would thrive with a QB like Brock. We get that speed element as well. He's still young.

I think it's something that should be looked at. Highly unlikely it happens.

Mac and a 2027 2nd and I'm down (might be over spending a little).

I wouldnt pay $60 million for Malik but he did look good this year when he had to play. Some guys just need 3-4 years to develop. If the Dolphins are tanking then why spend draft capital to trade for Mac Jones when you can just sign Malik Willis as a free agent or any other free agent QB that will bridge the gap?

Personally if i'm trading for Mac Jones i'm a team that can win and just need a QB that can manage the game and not give it away.
I think NY is underestimating how much mac is worth and/or how much the niners will he think hes worth in order to pull the trigger on a trade and let him go.

Draft picks, imo, are more valuable to a rebuilding franchise than cap space, imo. Taking a gamble on a QB that may net an accelerated path to a franchise QB, especially at less than franchise QB money, is a worthwhile endeavor when they aren't gonna need money for 2nd contracts on new players for a few years anyway

I mean he played what a game and half this yr? Vs two of the worst D in the league this year as well. What draft capital? I said it would involve waddle. They would get a pick with Mac.

I just don't see why a team that is implementing a Kyle offense would go after Willis vs Jones. Or why they would give up $60M vs having Jones for $1.3M this yr? If he turns out to be as good as he played this yr, then give him an extension, if not you got a chance to go get a legit rookie in a better draft class (and aren't tied to a horrible Willis contract).

Also Miami has no money, all those cuts got them to cap compliance.

I think Mac is worth a 2nd. Not sure how SF could feel he's worth more than that. He's a one yr guy here BUT could be someone else's FQB.

His contract is very favorable for whatever team get him this yr. I think someone like Waddle, who is already eating up a nonexistent cap for Miami imo doesn't have a future there beyond his current deal.

I do think Waddle in a trade would cost more than Mac. Hence Mac and a future pick.

end of the day it's just banter, highly doubtful that trade ever happens.

He was legit one of the best tackling S as a rookie. He was the best tackling S in his draft class. What do we think he just forgot how to tackle last yr coming off a ACL reconstruction?

I think they're gonna add a S but it shouldn't be at the cost of MM.

Like I said he may improve under Morris and now Gray. They've sent a lot of DB's to the Pro Bowl or improved them. But I wouldn't doubt it if they wanted to bring in their own DB's like Morris did when he signed Jessie Bates and drafted Xavier Watts and Billy Bowman.
I just love how even all these national pundits give all their takes this player or that player Niners need to get in FA or trade for and they really NEED to do that, they have no idea what the team NEEDS to do in signing FA or making trades, they really don't. I understand they need to make some kind of content and there's really nothing else to write or talk about, it is what it is. I mean, talking about someone like Mike Evans. Is he better than any WR currently on the roster, probably. He can still make some big plays downfield but is he long in the tooth and a lot of past injuries? You bet your ass and what's the ultimate cost anyway.

Yeahhhh I mean you're basically trading for the rights to give him a new contract. Still a good player, but this draft is full of good young safeties
Why is a top 20 QB, Mac Jones, not worth more than the trades being thrown around? That's assuming you think he is top 20.

AND he's basically free this yr.
