I would be. He's never won a meaningful game in his career and his body is starting to break down. He's basically the 35 year old version of Matt Ryan, 4 years younger.

Besides, the appeal of the Lions job is Stafford. They're not going to trade him for a maybe in the draft that might never be as good as him.

The only thing I do not like about Stafford is he almost always chokes under pressure, he definitely throws interceptions with the best of them. He does have a great arm and hes accurate but I don't trust him in any situation against any good defense whatsoever.

You disagree with me that Stafford wouldn't fit our system? Or that QBs can play better within different systems at all?

OMG, here we go again. Hell no to Stafford. Too expensive to be a stopgap, which is what he is. You guys have to consider the cap hit to both teams and guaranteed $$$ too. With the cap going down, we are probably best to keep Jimmy G., one more year, and draft his potential replacement. Jimmy's money is actually a friendly deal, and we win more with him than without him. Bring in a cheap backup (Kyle Lauletta, Trevor Simien, et al) , then draft a rookie qb to be his sucessor. Mullens makes $750K , Beathard $800K, and both will be FA, (Mullens will be tendered and cost MORE than he makes now, a shrinking cap means we cant keep either of them).

Really, did you see Stafford on Thanksgiving against a bottom 1/3 ranked defense? He basically sucked ass, no better than Jimmy is at this point. In fact his available skill players were pretty comparable to what Jimmy or any other 49er QB has worked with most of the season. He wasn't any better and possibly even worse then all the Niner QBs have played all season.

Stafford has Golladay and Marvin Jones. Way way better than any combo of wrs we've had since Owens Stokes (I had to go there ), and he still chokes beyond belief. I don't understand it but I guess people like that he has strong arm even though he throws a lot of interceptions and makes a lot of boneheaded mistakes. More so than Jimmy.
