That's why you can't do premium comp. Especially since this draft is so deep at pass rush. No need to force it when you have so many great options.
I can see the Packers giving up a late 1st for him

I'm hearing some different things on Reddit. Ranging from "he's actually a fit, Chiefs are just using it as an excuse to clear cap space" to "49ers play a 4-3 under which uses 3-4 personnel" to "a good DC would find a way to use him."
We don't have a good DC lollol

Then they can have him. Way too many elite pass rush options to toss away early picks on a one year wonder with a massive contract.

He had double-digit sacks in 2016.
The only season in the last three years where he didn't was 2017 and that's because he was out most of the year.
I have no idea where this "one-year wonder" narrative is coming from.
If we're just looking at the last 3 years, then yeah. I was talking about his whole career.
Personally, I'd prefer Frank Clark if he's available...or to just sign someone in free agency without having to give up a valuable draft pick.

I think people are once again over thinking things. If any of the top tier edge guys who got tagged are available for #36, you have to do it. Everyone talks about good edge players never becoming available and now according to rumors, pretty much all of them can be had for the right price.
Ford took a couple seasons to get going, but he's now developed into a guy you can count on too successfully get after the QB. Over the last 3 seasons he has 25 combined sacks, and he missed 11 games. For a guy who only turns 28 years old in couple of weeks, that is a player you can comfortably gamble on.
You have to have an aggressive mindset once you have your franchise QB in place. This off-season will show us how far along Lynch and Shanahan believe we are in this rebuild. You get a chance to enter the season with Bosa/Q.Williams, Ford, and E.Thomas, then rebuild over and it's now time to go contend.

I like PFF (subscriber) but when that's all someone uses to determine if a player is good or not

I feel Ike Oscar has been kissing PFF's ass just so he can land a job with them.
That said it's gonna depend on trade compensation for me with Ford.

Honestly I'm fine if they don't trade for him. I'll take Houston once he's let go.

I'd prefer Clark too, but that's never happening.

Zero chance Clark would ever be a niner...I agree prefer to just sign someone. Unless the value is less than our 2nd

So many options this year. No need to force it.
WR is the position to over spend in a trade. No elite WRs like Julio in the draft. Should trade for one.

I wouldn't say their all over the place. He broke out in his third season. He was injured his fourth season then last year he had his best year once healthy again.

I would give up this years 3rd and 5th round picks and next years 2nd. I do not want Lynch to give up the 36th pick Riley Ridley could be there.

2016 he had 10 sacks & 14 QB hits through 9 starts... His next 5.... 0 sacks & 3 QB hits.

Yeah I agree. If they can get him for a 3 or later, then do it. But not for the 36.
