Looking Ahead: 2019 NFL Free Agents and Potential 49er Fits

So you're telling me that with a draft pick and the available FA next year, there's a great chance we can fill a lot of our needs?

And we didn't need to trade for Mack or Gordon or Bell like the webzone freaked out about us not doing???

Amazing!

Excellent post and thanks for the work!

Agree on Siemian as a back-up. IMO, that would come down to cost. CJ is in an excellent spot to sit and learn behind JG. His progress will determine everything.

I think, KS/JL will stick w/the RB we have and ditto for TE. Bell would be incredible bit I feel we wouldn't pay the fee.

At WR Tate would be a prize and I still like Montcrief who I feel w/our other WR and KS's scheme - would thrive.

I've liked OL - Garcia for some time and I think he'd be a good fit.

I think we can pick up a very good LB in the draft. JL/KS seem to do very well in the mid to late picks.

NOW to the real "Meat & Potatoes." ER

IMO, Clowney and Lawrence are not going anywhere. I would love either one of them.

I don't see us going after one of the guys you named but IMO - going all-in for one in the draft.

Thanks again - good post and fun to deal with.

This front office is super prudent with their free agency targets, so do not get your hopes up lol. Ali Marpet is one guy from that group that I could definitely see the front office coveting. He'd be a big pick up. Other than that, I don't think they'll have much interest in this FA group, especially since all the good edge players will not hit free agency.

I disagree that these ERs won't hit FA. I think quite a few will (i.e Ray, Fowler, Barrett etc)
My list would be Coleman (assuming Jet doesn't make it back) then Fowler/Barrett. Then address OL in the draft.

Either sign the top guys or don't even bother. Shanny has done a terrible signing free agents.

garcon
smith
mehkinnon
hoyer
juice
marsh

I agree with Marsh and disagree with the rest. Hoyer, as bad as he was, at least let us get Jimmy G (let's be real, here: Pats asked us to release him as part of the trade).
Yea if they got Tate ans Williams then I'm all for cutting Garcon. I don't see Yeldon as an upgrade over Brieda and I don't see them cutting Mckinnon after his injury. As for Pass rusher I'm cool with Graham but let us realize the guy will be 31 and has never had double digits sacks in his career. I'd look to add Graham, Preston Smith and a draft pick. I agree that most of the pass rushers won't hit free agency.
Coleman>McKinnon. Not sure how the locker room would take that change though.

I also don't know why no one wants Clowney I think with his injury history he might come as a discount compared to Lawrence. Maybe not though. :/

We need multiple outside rushers. But I have a feeling we will only rely on one decent one in the future which will get Saleh fired. I think it's obvious that's their plan with all the run stuffing DEs we draft.

Why? Guys come and go every year. I'd take Clowney
looks like a great FA edge class, assuming most of these guys even hit the market.

Most of these will either get tagged or re-up with their respective teams.

That's why you have to draft well.
Give me TE Max Williams 2 yrs 4 million ( loved him in college and think him and Kittle could be the future) , Quinton Spain 4 yrs 24 million (to sure up the G position) and Dante Fowler 5 yrs 60 million..
Andy Levitre. Prototypical zone guard. Just went on IR with a triceps injury, should be fairly affordable, only 32 so he might be able to give you a few more quality years while you develop a young guard behind him.

Brandon Graham would be a great get, unlikely that the Eagles can keep him. Strong possibility that Ansah, Lawrence and even Fowler are retained. Fowler would be great but he seems primed for a huge season and unless his character issues are strong enough, the Jaguars would be wise to retain him. To me that leaves Graham as the top available edge rusher. Graham doesn't give you huge sack numbers but produces a ton of pressures which would likely lead to more sacks for Buckner, Thomas and Day.

Shaq Barrett-Would be an upgrade at SAM over Nzeocha, much more of a prototypical fit for this scheme.

Draft Focus-Another edge rusher, top WR or TE available, developmental tackle and guard, CB, RB, S.
