Trumaine Johnson or Malcolm Butler?

Trumaine Johnson or Malcolm Butler?

One CB got to play behind an absolutely dominant pass rush, another with little pass rush to speak of.

I think Johnson is a better fit overall but I don't believe the gap is really all that wide.

Thoughts on Breeland?

Fuller the one year wonder lol
I'd rather have Johnson but not by much.
Meh for both but Truman's is a better fit.
Per PFF, does this raise any concerns?

Johnson has all the traits of an elite corner, and the fact that he was franchised twice already might suggest he is one, but nothing in our grading agrees with that evaluation. In fact, it can be argued that Johnson was the weak link in the Rams' secondary at times last year. He gave up at least 79 yards in four separate games and his 759 yards allowed were fifth-most among all corners. He's a solid starter, but is not worth near what he got paid the past two seasons.
Rather have Malcolm Butler who is better and with something to prove. He was humiliated on the biggest stage football has to offer. The guy is going to bring in better then ever before and I want that on our team

i think people are down on Butler because his own head coach didnt play him in the biggest game of the year. If Belichick sits him for the SuperBowl what does that say about him?

Johnson for me easily.

I'd probably take Johnson over Butler, but Talib is better than both.
What about Butler and Rashaan Melvin instead of Johnson?

Spotrac released the market value for Johnson and it was determined he's worth a contract worth just a little over $55 million for five seasons. This was determined by looking at four other NFL cornerbacks who are around the same again as Johnson when they signed their contracts. Spotrac looked at what those players signed for as well as their stats the last two seasons.

Josh Norman was one of the cornerbacks Spotrac compared to Johnson. Two years ago, Norman signed a five-year deal worth $75 million with the Washington Redskins. Here's a look at his Norman's stats the last two seasons.

Josh Norman

Games played: 93.75, Tackles per game: 2.77, Interceptions per game: 0.2, Converted catch percentage: 49.35, Pass defended: 0.53, Rating: 83.3

And here's a look at Johnson's stats the last two seasons.

Trumaine Johnson

Games played: 93.75, Tackles per game: 3.47, Interceptions per game: 0.1, Converted catch percentage: 58.96, Pass defended: 0.2, Rating: 77.65

Whoever signs Johnson will get not a superstar cornerback, but he's good enough to make a team's defense better. He can defend opposing team's No. 1 receiver and he will normally win more battles than he loses. Last year, Johnson recorded 65 tackles, two interceptions and 13 passes defended. He was a big reason the Rams were ranked 13th in the NFL in pass defense last year.
