Just saw they're signing him, 2 yrs, $10M. Man, what a backfield now! Love it.

So who's out? Maybe McKinnon is not coming back or we just want ins., don't see the need and frankly he sucked last year when Freeman was out

Well if you look at last season, McKinnon and Brieda had injuries. We were forced to sign Morris, who doesn't belong on a roster frankly. We needed another guy that can help carry the load.

Wilson is the guy that goes. McKinnon was brought in to be a receiving option. Brieda and Coleman are pure runners. For a run-first team, we're looking pretty good.

Disagree. Have you ever watched Coleman play? Not even close to just a pure runner, in fact he mostly made his mark in the league as a 3rd down recieving option behind Freeman. Breida also proved to be a recieving option last season as well. All 3 essentially can do the same things which makes the loss of one or two of them due to injury sting less and Shanny can run the offense he planned to run when we brought in McKinnon last season

Yeah it's pretty clear that unlike many coaches who strive for variation and complimentary players, Shanny just wants multiple copies of the same thing. It makes sense when you're so scheme focused I guess.... but I do sometimes worry about not having enough different types of players for different types for roles.

Seriously? What did Coleman have 4 rushing touchdowns and 5 receiving touchdowns with an average over 4 yards a carry and he was splitting time with Ito Smith and Freeman part of the time. That's not sucking at all. Glad we have him

True and it also covers his ass since we are always injured, if all three can almost do the same thing there's little to no drop off. It's really smart rather than advertising your play as a run or a pass all these guys can do relatively the same job and a dam good job too

Now if we can get jimmy g another wr

Very underrated guy! very happy that we got him. Dude kills it in Shans offense.
I love this signing so much! Been wanting it to happen since KS got here! Coleman absolutely killed it in 2016 under Kyle!
Thrilled about this signing. We have 3 solid pss catching RBs. Can never have enough. I see a lot of RBs shifting to receivers in the future.

I wonder if ATL would trade Coleman? He is in a contract year and doubtful to be back. He could be our lead dog and we can re-sign him long term.

props to you for calling this.

I don't like the signing at all.. it's nothing to do with Coleman, but the fact that I fully believe that Breida - Wilson - Mostert can be a star in our backfield.

I didn't like the McKinnon signing and now I'm wondering why we needed to replace MORRIS?? WTF?????????

Not sure about you guys, but I really felt that Wilson and Mostert reminded me of Terrell Davis..

Yeah you on your own. Wilson and Mostert combined ain't even close to the RB Coleman is

I think you'll see Coleman and Jet involved more in the passing game. Shanny likes matching those RB against LB.

This. The Oline deserves a great deal of their success. Theres a reason Mostert went from looking like "just a ST guy" to a competent RB and I dont think it was him getting any better. He just got better run blocking.

That statement was less about Coleman and more about McKinnon. McKinnon wasnt brought in because of his rushing skills. He's on the roster because he's a nightmare in the passing game. Kyle wanted that wrinkle to scheme with.

Brieda and Coleman can both be bell cows. They are cery capable rushers. Both can also make plays in the passing game. Coleman is far more than a 3rd down back. He can get you 4.5 yds/carry consistently.

I think we'll see a healthy mix of all 3, but McKinnon is most likely to be the 3rd down back. I'd give Coleman the edge in leading all RBs in carries. He's the best pure RB on the roster.
