I rather bring in Terrell Pryor over butterfingers

MY GUY at WR, no rookies-we have enough young rooks/WR, we shud get a young vet with potential to learn behind Garcon, Pryor would be perfect. Another guy would be Cody Lattimer in a trade for same reason.

^Melvin should be the guy. Young, good size promising and won't break the bank like the others.

I'd like to see this guy here too., then we could draft a CB and have 4 solid CB's..

Nice thread. While the top tier FAs are fun to talk about, Kyle/Lynch might approach free agency as a way to "fill in the gaps".

EJ Gaines, CB, BUF: BUF played lots of zone coverage so he could be a good scheme fit. Not the ideal 6+ footer that 49ers seems to prefer.

Dion Jordan, Edge, SEA: he seems to have turned his life around. Still injury prone, but came on strong to end 2017.

Junior Galette, Edge, WAS: came back from injuries to a crowded DL. Was a good pass rusher when healthy but is now 30. Could be stop gap Edge similar to Elvis.

Prince Amukamura, CB, CHI: solid, unspectacular vet to add to a young secondary.

Good post thl. You nailed some of these guys too IMHO. I have the priority list (from my perspective) over here: http://www.49erswebzone.com/forum/niners/187944-2017-team-information-needs/page81/#post1207

Of note, Junior has had a ton of injuries but he has a legit ability to ER...Dion is a RFA but another good one.

Yeah both edges sound intriguing but way risky unless we're desperate lol.

Actually, I don't see Lynch going after a RFA like Dion Jordan. I think he cherishes those draft picks.

My bad I thought Dion Jordan was unrestricted. Lynch and the FO seem to want to sign middling vets to patch holes so that they don't come into the draft with glaring needs. So I think OL, CB, and Edge might be three positions they look to fill in FA with vet placeholders. Galette and Amukamura seem like good candidates for that vet placeholder role. Nothing fancy, just vets that don't suck.

I don't see Lynch going after Gaines when they already have K'Waun Williams. I think Lynch will want to look for someone to replace Dontae Johnson with size than sign a Gaines at 5'10". Amukamara would be a pretty decent signing but the under the radar signing I think they would go with would be DeShawn Shead. Shead is coming off a season ending injury but at 6'2" 212 pounds with experience in Saleh's scheme I think he would definitely be on the radar.

Well, Pryor would be my first choice in this scenario, so we actually agree. Lattimer was/is more of an example of a guy that a change of scenery might fix him. It be nice to get a big time FA WR, but what do we do with Garcon ?? That's why Im saying either go in draft (making our WR core younger), or get a 2nd. tier Vet w/ potential to learn and grow BEHIND Garcon, then take over in 2019.

Yeah, it will be interesting to see the approach this year. I nailed their approach last year but it wasn't hard to see they'd get some solid veterans who knew the system, hard workers to show the youth the way and let rookies develop via high snap counts.

This year?

We're a real contender with a FQB and quite a few positions performing well plus $113M in space and even more with a cut like Ward at $8.5M.

I think this is the year the FO could target a whole slew of 'veterans' in the 26-28 year old range to compliment the youngest roster in the NFL and who'd still be with us the next 3+ years...with high upsides oe high performers currently.

Agreed...CB, G, C and ER are certainly the right approach this year IMHO.

all these guys I'd take, except Amukamara, unless he came cheapm and we drafted a guy to challenge him.
