Beggars can't be choosers. Frontload the guaranteed portion of the contract and get it done.

I'd rather have d Ford too. But not for a precious second. PS did you realize yet Garcon was gone, and not coming back

Of course. I just threw him out there as another example of a bad contract that Lynch has given out.

Agreed. Working out a long term deal with Ford is going to be difficult so this is likely the next best option.

The better question is are you comfortable paying Ford somewhere in the Von Miller neighborhood? I've heard he's aiming for a similar deal.

He a Niner yet?
Houston would be a very good signing. Getting him to come off the edge would be incredible. Put hopefully Bosa off the other edge would make us tough up front along with AA and Buckner. We would have great depth on that DL.
Houston is significantly better than Ford. It just comes down to health with him. If he stays on the field for an entire season, 15 sacks is certainly with his reach. IMO, he's still one of the top edge rushers in the NFL. It just comes down to money and knowing that while you'll probably get another 2 years of high level production out of him, he's likely to miss a handful of games due to injuries. He's a wrecking ball when he's on the field.

If you can get Houston for 12-13M sign me up. It'll be interesting to see what he commands on the open market. My guess is that he'll get closer to 15M. Proven pass rushers like Houston don't get released often.
The Chiefs released Houston on Sunday, making the eight-year veteran immediately available. I would real like the 49er to sign him and still draft a pass rusher.
Heard that Houston has the same agent as Defo. Hey Defo tell your agent to bring Houston to the Niners.
