I'm equally impressed with a FB leading him.

A good night for each. But they were asked to do completely different things.

agreed. but 5 yards a carry is a huge difference.

I think we need to pump the breaks on the Frank Gore comparisons. Frank is likely going to the HOF.
Also, their body types aren't comparable at all. Frank is 5'9" 215. Joe Williams was listed during the broadcast as 5'11" 205.
Williams is known for his speed. Gore is known for virtually everything else a RB can do, except speed.
It's not fair to either player to compare the two. Not simpatico.
I don't think people are making direct comparisons that i have seen? people are talking about Frank in the same breath because he is the best 49ers RB to ever wear the jersey. People started talking about size, so they compared him to gore, etc. Its mostly a differences and similarities type comparisons that i have seen, and not direct player for player comparisons. Two totally different runners.

I don't think so. Breida was asked to almost exclusively run between the tackles...frequently. And Williams was asked to do virtually the opposite. Williams did a good job of getting to the outside (his strength) and was able to reap the rewards. Even if Breida made it through the DL he would have a LB or S on him... it's comparatively limited upside.
Not taking anything away from anybody, each did their job. Just saying -- in this game -- YPA is not a useful metric to judge performance.

I still don't see why he is considered a small back. He has very good size for a rookie RB and can easily gain 5 to 10 pounds. He is a 4-down back.
I don't recall size being the knock against him. I think it was his upright running style and inability to create. That's what (for now) keeps him from being a "four down back". He obviously excels outside the tackles. You need that on the team. But you also need somebody who can make it happen between the tackles as well...IF you want to be a four down back.

he's no Bruise Miller, but he'll have to do.
