Smh.

It's more that we are even looking at them. Why even take the time to talk to somebody literally worse than Devey?

and perhaps it is also cuz they have adhered to the theory that has never been proven right that you can build a winning team in on off season by going crazy and throwing money at free agents. the people who are all crying about the niners not spending today have only themselves to blame as they tricked themselves into thinking just because we have money we totally change how we do things. signing smith last year on day one is about the only time i remember them being very active on day one. the smart fans here know most of the work the team does is on days two three and four

Will watch with interest cc.

As a priority on day one of free agency no less.

Can we definitively state that he's worse than Devey just because they're separated by a few points in their PFF grades? And I say that as a PFF subscriber. The grades are useful, but they're far from gospel. I've coached OL before and it's very difficult to grade the position (or any position for that matter) with any accuracy if you don't know the play calls and the assignments.

I imagine because Chip feels he may be able to
do something with him. Even if he does sign though, I doubt he starts. Guys like him and Dunbar are at best depth.....hardly worth getting bent out of shape over.

The best course of action is NOT to give dumb contracts to players who have come nowhere close to earning them. Vernon makes more than any other DE in the NFL in all 3 measurements of a contract.....

Let that sink in for a few moments

The salary cap goes up every year.

The amount of players per team stays the same every year.

That means that EVERY YEAR there are going to be players who make "the most in NFL history"

It is simple mathematics.

I get this, and most years the guys who get that $ have earned it, but imo this years FA crop is weak from the get go and not a one ridiculous contract is in any way shape or form justified imo. These aren't Celements 80m contracts that were nothing close, these are contracts paying big $ up front with huge guarantees.

It can be legitimate interest in the guy or a favor to an agent to drum up business for his client.

Then I'm not sure what you're getting at, I've never said the blocking grades are garbage and think it's one of the only good uses because there's not really any better way to grade an o-lineman because there's not really any quantifiable stats at the position.

A system that grades a CB low that just won DROY and made the Pro Bowl in his first season deserves criticism. Not sure how that's hard to understand.

Big part of that grade came from surrendering a s**t ton of catches, yards and td's by said corner. Also post season awards and pro bowls are not awarded by people who watched every snap of every player eligible.

Yeah. Sometimes it is bold to be patient. But the money part is bs. They make so much why not at least talk to a few more on day one?

There is also a difference between bold and stupid. I dont have much faith in the football intelligence from FO. I could be very naive but I want this team to Win or least be building towards a winning attitude. I am sorry but no confidence so far.

Keep pasting this misleading stat.

Why not show us that you dont have to spend all your money in FA but STILL spend SOME of your $60 million on FAs?

Great stat by the way. I love how it totally takes into account the impact of coaching and the overall quality of an organization into account over the impact a group of FAs have on a team's win percentage.......

Once again:

Smartly not blowing all your cap space on FAs =/= Only spending peanuts on scrubs when you have more money than the rest of the teams!
