Rumor mill

But of course some of the doots here will say what a terrible signing it is because it's the Raiders.

No way we pay a wr almost 10 mil a year. Even if we restructure I doubt the front office will go for it. Crabtree is more valuable to us than Jackson and would probably cost close to the same amount if and when we extend him.

Then why did we inquire about him? So Baalke could ask Gamble about the family?

Exactly...they inquire to see first if the team is really interested in trading the player and get an idea of terms. Then they talk to the agent to see if there's any flexibility on the player's contract/interest in restructuring to fit the new team's cap. If thumbs down on one or the other, it's a no-go.

Pretty simple stuff.

Actually the team is not allowed to talk to the agent without Phili's permission. That's how we got in trouble with Briggs and Chicago.

Yes, as part of that initial discussion with the team as per above.

We had initial discussions with Chicago as well, and still ended up giving them picks and position. It is not always the best thing for a team to give permission to a potential trade partner to allow them to speak to the agent.

I get what you're saying, but I think we're getting too deep in the weeds here. I wasn't trying to make this an issue of detailed process; it was more about the timing of things (inquiry THEN agent contact).

Fair enough, I am guilty of placing to high a priority on the small details on the regular. It is not uncommon for my daughters to roll their eyes when I start telling a story. We are seeing eye to eye..

No worries!
Henry Melton signed with the Cowboys, clearly the Seahawks GM sucks and can't close a deal either.

No but he can win a Championship which is something our front office can't do

Anybody know what Jackson is asking for? I don't think this is a realistic move but cutting Rodgers opened up a little more money so if Jackson is willing to take a pay cut to play with Kaep it'd be worth a shot.

Jackson isn't coming here. His beef with Philly started because he made several public comments about not being paid enough....two years after agreeing to a new contract. He feels he deserves more than the $10 mil per year he's currently getting.

He's basically the offensive version of Darrelle Revis, minus the fact that he is not even arguably the best at his position.
What QB wouldn't want to have Jackson to throw to?
Whoever the dude is that tweeted that though is a joke. He probably asked some dude on a website for his opinion.

Desean Jackson and pay cut in the same sentence don't mix, if Kaep wants Jackson badly he needs to be reasonable with his new contract coming up and Jackson needs to be willing to restructure. Jackson complained about his contract a year after signing an extension, dude is complaining when he's gonna make 10 mil smfh
