Supposedly it's the Raiders for $8 mil annually.
So let me get this straight. The Raiders let Veldheer walk for $7 mil per, but sign Saffold for $8 mil per?
Raiders gonna Raider.

How are these 2nd - 3rd tier players commanding this much bank? Guys like Michael Bennett, Jared Allen, even Whitner and Cromartie are gonna score huge. It's nucking futs.

Some NFL news (s**t, any NFL news) that isn't the same stories over and over is great. Once the flurry of FA ends, there's nothing until May

This plus there are a lot of bad desperate teams out there that don't now how to build through the draft and re-sign their own like we do. Best way to win and win for a long time is:
1. Build Through The Draft - Get a system and have continuity with players and coaches and get guys that fit your system. It's ok to take a risk once in awhile but for the most part get good football players that will produce in the NFL. If you are taking projects all the time odds are you will hit once every few drafts with a star and you will stay a the bottom of the league.
2. Don't Overpay Players - Don't act like the Redskins or Dolphins (of current) in FA. Most big deals don't work out. Many guys are happy to get paid and settle. They play better in their contract year and you have to watch out for that. A winning team and atmosphere can help you get guys for a few mil cheaper. Not many want to take a pay cut to win a championship but many of your own will want to stay if it's a good atmosphere and will give you a small discount. It's a good thing to have your own want to come back; it gives you a little leverage.
3. Re-sign Your Own That Are Deserving - Pick and choose, don't give everyone big deals like the Cowboys
4. Work The Draft - Trade up a few spots when needed to make sure you get the guy you want but more importantly take risks trade back if you think the player you want will still be there a few spots down. Get picks for next year. This will allow you to stay competitive and trade up if needed.
There you guys go I just told you something many GM's who get paid millions to do their job can't figure out.

Saffold can play both tackles and gaurd, makes sense to me spend 1mill more for equal talent and more versitility.

Jason La Canfora @JasonLaCanfora
When the Dolphins announce their deal with T Branden Albert tomorrow, he will end up getting $10M/season. Quite a haul
