If you could choose between Jackson and Crabtree who would it be ?

Chances are the Brass is thinking the same thing. Carry the cap for 1 year, next season you may not have either why not go for broke and carry both in case Crabs doesn't work out negotiations wise
If it just took a 3rd round pick to get him they should jump on it. He's definitely worth his contract. If it meant not re-signing Crabtree, I'd probably pass.

We would have to restructure his salary for 2014.

But Jackson whines so much about his contract that wouldn't be an easy task.

This would also be a decent pickup.
So if the Eagles have $6M in dead money for him this year and if his salary is a little over $10M, then do we only owe him a little over $4M for this year?

No, the 49ers would owe $10 million, his full salary, but no signing bonus money.

Not even close. After the Rogers cut is accounted, then yes, but that won't be for awhile. Even then you still need about 3-4 mil for all your draft picks.

But technically, those draft picks don't have to sign until around late July, which gives the team room to restructure other contracts. For example, restructuring Gore alone could net us enough money to sign most, if not all of our picks.

So long as he gets his money up front, he won't care. They can extend the deal out a little and make the cap hit less burdensome on the front end.
I'm ok with the possiblity of MeSean Jackson coming on board. At worst, its a 1 year experiment and we trade or cut him next year. Although I'm not sure about salary cap ramifications if that happens, its just a happy thought.

Its been way too long since we've had someone as dynamic as him on our offense.

Two things: 1. #Eagles love trades & owe it to themselves to listen on a player with that price tag. 2. Pats love to inquire on everyone

Thats him. Alos, if we make Jacksons salary for this year a bonus, how much would he count against the cap? Wouldn't it be like 3.33 million with the rest spread over the life of the contract? We can just redo his deal if the eagles let us talk to the agent.
