I agree, Baldwin makes a lot of 3down conversions and gets the big plays but as much as I hate to say this, Wilson makes them all better than they are, hence why Kearse can score TDs like hes their star player and not their #5 WR. Add all the WRs you want but if Kap is only lookin at Crabtree, he's gonna be irrelevant. Tate will just end up like Braylon Edwards, Moss, and now Manningham, an overhyped signing that will not meet our expectations. Sometimes I wonder if Boldin woulda ended up the same way if Crab never got hurt and they never built the chemistry.

The funny thing is, now Seattle has to pay both of those motherf**kers. They're both free agents now.
Baldin is a restricted free agent. So I assume they'll give him a high tender and he'll stay for another year at a reasonable salary. If someone else signs him, the Seahawks will get nice compensation for him.

If im not mistake, Kearse should be a free agent this year too. and I feel the team will probably endup releasing Sidney Rice.

no Kearse is under contract for 2014 then he is an RFA in 2015

Big bump for this thread.
Tate is still on the market. Vet, YAC beast, good run blocker, dependable hands, hates JRamsey. Checks all the boxes to me. Why not?

We already sniffed around and we didn't address receiver in the draft. He also no longer counts in the comp pick formula I believe.

So it makes a lot of sense to improve our depth with a player whose skill set seems to fit what we like to do. As an added bonus he has a good amount of experience returning punts and a wee bit on kick returns.

Plus maybe now that he's married he has hopefully stopped banging his teammates wives.

Of all the FA vet WRs left, Tate is the one I'm hoping they bring in. He's all you mention here and would give this team a dependable slot WR that can make plays.

I think Tate would easily outperform Sanu on the field. Sanu seems to have embraced a leadership role based on how Aiyuk spoke about Sanu, and how bummed Aiyuk was when Sanu was let go in 2020. Don't know how much of a factor that is when comparing Sanu vs Tate. The 49ers don't need a mentor as much as they need someone to actually produce from the slot. Tate is a pure slot WR so there isn't much positional flexibility there and the 49ers like their WRs to be able to line up inside and outside.
The fact that he is a slot wr and a good punt returner should be all we need to know. A no brainer signing imo. I'm sure he would also love to help whip Seattle's ass too

Wat better than Sanu. He has the right mentality for this team and I feel like he would easily be our number 3

Easily is right. He can break tackles like Deebo and return punts. I'm sure we won't sign him but it would of been nice. Kill two birds with one stone.

When has Tate been a legit punt returner though? 2013?

I'd take Tate over Sanu in a heartbeat though.

i don't think his play out weighs the person he is. Some type of issue with this guy on every team

That could explain why he isn't signed yet despite being a productive player. Locker room drama seems to follow the guy around. While it'd be fun to watch Tate vs Ramsey twice a year, that personal squabble has gotten to the point that it can be distracting. NYG last year had to discipline him for acting up. I can see why a team wouldn't want to deal with this kind of player.

Always loved his toughness. Like you said, can help in return game, and is willing to go over the middle. If we can't get Julio, would love for him to be the vet we bring in to round out our receiving core. I think a lot of vets are going to wait and see how training camp shakes out, and if someone get's hurt.
