Sure Moore and Patton can get open against Seattless big corners.. After they have been mauled by boldin and Baldwin all game.. If Baldwin can get two to four clutch catches per game but seal the edge for gore and co .. I'm fine with dat

DING DING DING DING. Look what they did against Calvin Johnson compared to what they did against Wes Welker. You don't go strength vs strength, you go after their weaknesses. When you have big physical cornerback's, the downside is that they are going to be stiffer in the hips, don't change direction as well, struggle to stick with quicker, shiftier guys. If you put in a bunch of slower, physical, possession type WR's, you're actually doing them a favor. You're allowing them to get away with their weaknesses and utilize their strengths.
Bigger, slower DB's struggle with smaller, shiftier WR's. A guy like Baldwin they'd absolutely eat for lunch.

For the most part, with a few exceptions(Brandon Marshall, Julio Jones), they did very well against bigger receivers, they absolutely shut them down, it was the smaller, quicker types that gave them fits. Their CB's don't move all that well laterally, they want to take on guys who aren't that shifty, who will beat press coverage but won't be able to get separation. Wes Welker and Davone Bess had some of the best numbers against that defense last season.

Ronnie Hillman, all 196 pounds of him, ran all over their D until he fumbled on the 1 yard line.
I think so. Last time, Frank only ran the ball 6 times for 28 yards and Marshawn Lynch pounded it 26 times for 111 yards. I think the problem all started when our D couldn't stop the run and they scored on us really quick. After that we had to play catch-up, so we stopped running the football and decided to throw, but they shut down on our passing game too. Quite frankly our passing game just wasn't stout enough, Atlanta showed us you can throw on them, but we just didn't have the receiving corps to do it.

That could be it, a mixture of both.

Just wait till he unleashes his anger on those deep jump balls on Browner, Sherman and Chancellor.
Lets hope so, if there is ONE game I want us to win this year... Its week 2 in friggin Seattle. I dislike them so much...
That is going to be such a tough game to win and will continue to be for years to come. Those guys are not trying to just beat us, they want to take our guys out. We need to continue to build on size and physicality. We already have enough small slot wideouts. For the deep ball, you have to play big outside guys like Baldwin. I don't know how Baldwin will work out, but we need to keep building, may be another couple of big guys in the next draft with guys like Brandon Coleman. In that week 2 game, we will have to really bring it with everything we got in order to win it.
Definitely.
It's Boldin (6-1 220), Baldwin (6-4 230), Vernon (6-3 250), Vance (6-5 270)
vs.
Browner (6-4 225), Sherman (6-3 195), Earl Thomas (5-10 202), Chancellor (6-3 232)
Honestly, those are the match-ups I'd want. Boldin is shorter but I think his experience and strength would allow him to beat Browner. Baldwin should be able to physically overmatch Sherman, and same with our TEs over their safeties.
I always thought that if the defense is throwing big bodies at you, having small guys that can make cuts is the way to go. If they put small DBs on you, then you want tall guys to create the mismatch.
I think Boldin and Patton are going to tear these guys apart...neither of these to guys are afraid to get physical to get into their routes and they're both such good route runners. They're not going to be able to double on Boldin if they Double on VD..and that's going to create all kinds of mismatches.
I think Patton is the best news we've had since we were handed Boldin.
We have both...you still have the slot guys in Williams, Patton and Manningham at some point (maybe even Hall and Gray) to compliment the bigger guys.

I think balance is the key. The last time we went there small (Williams, Manningham - knee destroyed), they just pressed Crabtree (his weakness, obviously) and VD was beat to heck. It's time to body-blow (out-muscle them in the run and pass game) and then knock 'em down with the quickness (Williams, Patton, Gray, Hall, etc).

This is why I'm pulling for a big boy like Lamar Divens to make the team (team up next to Ian Williams on some 4-man DL's). Yes, Justin being hurt made a big dfference but we struggled all year against some bigger, stronger, power running teams esp. right up the gut.

I don't know what is going to happen, but I sure like our chances with our 4 big guys plus Kyle, patton, Mario. First guy to try and put a hit on vance is in for a surprise. And Boldin can take care of himself. Baldwin sure has the size and the chance and luck to play here. I can't imagine him not doing well. Vernon? Well, they can double him, but that will be impossible with the talent we put on the field. And I expect the 4 bigs to be our receivers plus LMJ in backfield, plus our smaller guys across the middle. I think we win the physicality matchup...but that doesn't mean that SEA won't try to cut one of our guys, going for his knees....because I think Pete the cheat is NOT above doing that.

Yes, I agree. But, before that our D have to stop the run. We couldn't do it last time after Justin Smith went down. Their O just hammered us and scored really fast. After that, we had no choice and had to play catch-up when we were forced to throw. And we tried to throw, they totally shut us down, like you said they killed Mario and Kyle and completely covered Crab. Even Vernon was knocked out. It was ugly, it was a total massacre.
We have to give them a taste of their medicine. We stop their run, we pound the rock and balanced with play action passes to big physical targets. Is not just about physical size neither, even for big guys like Vernon, Boldin and Baldwin, we all have to play physical. We have to thump them in all positions. We can't just play like normal how we play the other teams. If someone is trying to dominate you physically, the only way to survive such an encounter is to meet force with force, there is just no way around it.

Yes, absolutely. Once we lost Justin, we just couldn't hold the line and we had no depth. Their D-line on the other hand is deep as hell. Bottomline, we must stop their run !! If we can't, we will get destroyed again.

You never want to say, "I can always do this or that." Not all "big" guys are stiff in the hips or slow afoot. Some have excellent quickness. You can't teach "big."
Baldwin could prove to be a good addition against Seattle. He could make Browner and Sherman work a lot harder to control him than they would a smaller guy. As you noted, they were able to take Crabtree out of his game completely and that shut everything down. Now if Baldwin can learn a little bit of ornery to go along with his size, it could make for interesting viewing. Let's see how Browner and Sherman do against Boldin and Baldwin with Williams and Patton going up against Seahawk nickels and safeties. Those two big guys could be game changers if Baldwin can find a mean streak. I have a feeling his attachment to Boldin may justbe the thing that could make the difference in his game.
