Nnamdi Asomugha was a 49er

Has it been confirmed if Carlos is the slot DB? Nnamdi has always been a RC. I don't recall him playing on the left side during the pre-season. How's the rotation between the Corners going to work?

Nnamadi Asomugha (collarbone) will play Sunday and serve as the No. 3 cornerback, defensive coordinator Vic Fangio said.

Nnamdi played exclusively on the left side against Minnesota. Not only that, but for the last two weeks of camp he was on the left side.

Agree, the guy can't tackle AT ALL. That P.I. was pretty bad though. Given that Seattle can maul Patton and throw him on the ground on a pass play well beyond 5 yards, "grazing" a WR on a deep ball was pretty tacky. On a positive note, we actually threw ONE bomb yesterday...on Sherman...for an INT...and a pulled hamstring to our best TE. Brilliant.

It is absurd how the officials let Seattle get away with murder in the secondary until the game is pretty much over, and then they start throwing one or two 5 yard penalties to make it seem like they were calling an even game. But then calling PI at the drop of a hat against the 49ers. That said though, Asomugha was pathetic on that long pass. A 10-year vet should have immediately recognized that it was a go route and looked back for the ball once he was 15+ yards down the field.

we called his name once for a pi call

the wr's didn't do anything besides that and nnamdi was on them the entire night.

even on the p.i. call he wasn't burned the ball was under thrown and he didn't track the ball. if he had turned his head around there wouldn't have been a flag.

I disagree on moving Cox ahead of Nnamdi, however I do agree that was an absolute mugging Seattle's DBs did to our receivers. It looked like an NFL Films clip of the Oakland Raiders secondary vs. Lynn Swann. I don't even know what goes for PI/illegal contact against Seattle anymore. I will say that our staff would be foolish to allow our guys to match up with these guys one on one in the future. Too physical for our receivers. No shame in admitting it. We just need to adjust. Bunch formations, a receiver in motion, getting TEs and backs matched up on linebackers, and better run blocking.
