It's crazy. Gave me a headache just trying to predict, so I just shrugged my shoulders and accepted I have no idea what they're going to do this time around. Let the chips fall as they may.
LOL. I don't blame you. I've edited mine about 40 times already. Many more to come...I'm sure.

I'm not sure if he'll stick on the final roster but the team hasn't been shy about competition. At worst he's a great additional resource to young players on the squad, at best he'll be healthy and close to a guy who got 17 sacks 3 seasons ago.
There should be very few guys this camp who are secure in their jobs. That's a good thing. No matter how hard people work, they work even harder when they know their job may be on the line or someone is pushing for their starting job.

Good thing about Elvis, he only registered 3 sacks last season but they came the last two or three games when he was ready to play coming off some foot injury earlier in the season. So first he averaged about 1 sack a game during that time and second he's in relatively good health coming in to this team.

Buckner, Thomas and Dumervil are three very good pass rushers. Throw in AA at LDE now instead of LEO with Thomas shifting inside and that is a front 4 that can create some havok. We have depth too with Mitchell, Blair, Jones, Pita, Dial, Lynch, and Carradine. We will be cutting some decent players.
3T- AA/Thomas - Dial
NT- Mitchell - DJ Jones
5T- Buckner - Blair - C. Jones
LEO- Dumervil - Lynch
Same at linebacker. After having to start 3rd stringers for most of the season we finally have some depth. The biggest battle will be between Bowman and Foster. I expect Bowman will now be a 2 down thumper and Foster will play the majority of the passing downs.
SAM- Brooks - Harold
MIKE- Bowman - Foster - Coyle
WILL- Smith - Armstrong - Watson
What a difference from last year. Lynch and Co. have done a fantastic job thus far.
Yeah, it looks like we'll be cutting some good experienced veteran players, but I hope they stay with more of the youth movement and not go with experience too much. I remember rookie Dwain Board was cut from the Steelers because he couldn't get a spot on the Steel Curtain defense, and wound up as a free agent with us and was an anchor on the defense for us for two super bowls.

We worked him out.. so I doubt all of a sudden he gets on the field and we're like "OMgZ what a mistake."
Pure pass specialist. When it's all said and done this signing probably bumps Carradine/Watson off the roster.

I love how Lynch identify's needs and fills the hole. IMO great signing ED could easily lead the 49ers in sacks next season. Let AA play running downs and bring in ED to rush the passer. Hole at Leo filled.
Reminds me of when the 49ers brought in Whitner, a lot of people thought he was washed up at the time.

It's a two year deal. Probably only 1/4 of his contract is guaranteed... probably some nice incentives to keep motivated. Here's to continuing him being a disruptive weapon like he was the last month of the season last year. He wants the league to put some respect on his name md I'm sure he needs to add to that bank account before hanging them up in 2019 or 2020.

He is one of only four players to record at least 17 sacks in a season more than once since 2006, along with Jared Allen, DeMarcus Ware, and J.J. Watt.
Only once since entering the league in 2006 has Dumervil not led his team's position group in pass-rush productivity (which measures pressure created on a per-snap basis with weighting toward sacks), when he finished behind Pernell McPhee in 2014.
His 113 career sacks are most of any player from the 2006 draft class, which includes players like first overall pick Mario Williams and first-rounder Tamba Hali.

What a gift to the webzone it would be if he disappeared off of this website. How he's seriously still allowed to post is beyond me. Shouldn't be allowed to post in niner talk. I've hidden his posts but still annoying seeing people respond to those FB style remarks.

I think he's just copying what Tampa Bay did in 1995-1996. Tampa drafted Warren Sapp, Derrick Brooks , Regan Upshaw, and Marcus Jones over a two year period. And he saw first hand how a strong front seven helped him cover DB's as a safety better. Tampa's defense went from 27th to 2nd over a two year span.

Why would he be sweating? AA is not a factor as a 3rd down pass rush specialist end.

How many DL do we plan on keeping?
Buckner
Armstead
Thomas
Mitchell
Blair
Dial
Dumervil
Lynch
D. Jones
Pita
C. Jones
That's 11 right now. Realistically on the 53 man roster -- it'll be at what? 8?
