Elvis Dumervil

No one is recruiting him to SF (at least to our knowledge) and they have Taylor and McCoy. So if he chooses SF it would be because of the money.

Honestly player recruiting isn't that important imo...it is about the money along with the QB/scheme end of the day.

He's only 29 an will want that next contract, he's not going to buffalo cause McCoy tells him to, its in hope that he can put up big numbers for that new contract.

Good news signing for San Francisco. Fills an immediate need, still productive, offers competition for Aaron Lynch and Arik Armstead at the Leo spot, and provides valuable leadership and work ethic on defense. What would the new d-line look like?

Base
Thomas-Mitchell-Buckner-Dumerville

Passing Downs

Passing down D-line is how I see it too, whether Dumerville starts or not. Armstead can be our new Larry Roberts, (1st. round pick that was a solid rotational player and p/t starter for us through a few SBowls..Never became a starter, but added tremendous depth!!

If he's so good, how come no other team invited him for a tryout? It's not like teams ever say, "we have enough edge rushers, don't need anymore". If he doesn't do well then it's a waste of money. If he does do well, then he just screws up their draft position for 2018 so what's the point?

Yes, got this in for page 10.

And the reality that little Alex doesn't throw the ball to his WR's.
I thought this was a new thread. The opening posts from 2013 about McDonald and aldon had me so confused till I noticed. why cant we just have a new thread for this FA signing?

stupid

I think via other teams drafts and FA signings, he may have slipped through the cracks. I don't think it was an indication of his worth or lack thereof. If you go team for team not many teams may have needed him, there fore he was available (as is Revis, )., doesn't mean he cant play anymore. Also, I would hope the goal of the team is to NOT pick in the top10 of the draft AGAIN. I'd rather pick 25th-32nd. in the 1st. rd. anytime. dms

That is exactly what this means

Not sure about this. Armstead hasn't really been given any opportunity to either impress or otherwise at this position. I think what it means is, you can never have too much pass rush. Dude was available. We had the money. Bam. We have an organisation now which will go out and get what it wants.

Maybe... from what i have been hearing AA was the guy they "wanted" to fill that role... hard to say without camp, but id bet it's a little bit of both

Seems confident in Lynch and Armstead is very low, and until they prove it on the field its the right approach.

I think his signing shows little confidence with the guys we have on the roster on the opposite side of Thomas. You would think that with all the young talent lined up at DE (Armstead, Carradine, Lynch, Blair, Harold) that these guys would be getting serious reps. They are not signing Elvis to be a camp body, but a guy that will be: either a starter, or a heavy contributor.

Little vote of confidence for the prospectful LEO's on the roster.
