Yup. Washington, Miami, the Jets maybe.. maybe the Chiefs even with an outside chance. But here? Nah.

if you wanted to win a superbowl, which team gives you the best chance? the teams you mentioned or the 49ers?

Look how the Niners did without a full offseason. Alex performed well enough to get us to the NFC Championship game and we were a few errors away from making it to the Superbowl. We don't need Peyton. If he was healthy and didn't have those serious neck issues, then maybe I'd be ok with the signing, however, we can't just ignore the fact that he's a hit away from having his career ended. Can you imagine us signing him, missing out on Rogers, Goldson, and other free agents, then having Manning get sacked and out for his career? That would be pathetic.

Wonderlic scores

Alex Smith - 40

Payton Manning - 28

LOL As if that means anything. I guess it proves that Wonderlic doesnt really mean that much. Dan Marino had a 15 . I dont think it hurt him much. Alex is really a smart guy. He will never be as smart as Peyton on the football field though.
alex is coming back and he's not gonna be sitting on the bench

Dont pay alex, and add 10 mill and your playing with the best qb in the league.. Have to do it!

Until he gets hit then the team has to finish with an unblooded rookie at the helm..

Manning is not coming back. Just as well, because we would have to gut out team to pay him. That money you were ready to throw at him is going to be used to re-sign our free agents.
Manning has a fused neck. He can't play anymore. Get over it.

All his baggage? LOL.. I hope you just mean his neck injury. If healthy he is >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Alex Smith and it isnt even close. Peyton Manning doesnt have baggage. The guy is a leader, studies the game as much as anyone, and would be an asset to almost any team in this league.

Injury YES Baggage HARDLY

Contract, injuries, players we wouldn't be able to bring in, drop in talent, new offense. Baggage.
Theres no talk between the 49ers and Manning . . . . . . shocking.

tell it like it is valrod!
It might be disappointing to those who actually thought there was a chance in hell that it would happen.

To the rest, it was expected.

When Schefter talks in absolutes it's complete BS. Doesn't anyone remember when he said Harbaugh was for sure going to coach Michigan? If the team wants him it's absolutely possible. We are going to upgrade at WR. We also didn't run a true WCO this season so quite making that argument. Manning is the smartest QB in the league. He'll learn whatever offense they want to run. Oh and "the Manning family won't let him play on the west coast." Are you kidding me? Is he 5 years old? I have no idea what's going to go into his decision. I do know that out of the teams that need a QB we have the best team and a coach that could do a good job of "recruiting" Manning if he wanted to. In the end it probably won't happen but it's still fun to think about.
You're delusional if you don't think that Peyton is an upgrade over Alex.

He's the best quarterback in the league. Assuming he's healthy you put him here and give him a rushing attack, a defense, and special teams and he's going to win 15 games blind folded. Alex will cost 8-10 mil, and Peyton's going to get cut so he's not going to cost 28 mil. You get Peyton at 15-18 mil and he's not nearly the cap whore you guys are projecting.

That being said Schefter is right and Harbaugh would be stupid to bring in him. Peyton is 37 years old and who knows about his health. Alex is 28. You bring Peyton in and it doesn't work out you just f*cked up a young talented team capable of a dynasty with an average qb.

Alex won the job, and Kaepernick is plan B. That's pretty much clear as day to everyone.

Unfortunately, Valrod is right. We would not be able to sign our own guys. However, if somehow, someway, we can get him for cheap, then you go balls out to get him because he was the best quarterback before he got hurt.

Btw, if i could sign either Peyton Manning or Alex Smith to the EXACT same contract, ($10 mil per) I would choose Peyton. I know it's a risk, but sometimes, you have to roll the dice.

Please stop. Peyton Manning is a top 5 player of all time. Alex Smith isn't even a top 5 player on OUR TEAM! It's not like Manning is 10 years passed his prime and played poorly his last year playing. He was just out with an injury!
