Nate Clements signed by Bengals

alright good riddance

this has been the worst offseason in the past decade for us

well the past few offseasons we've had super high expectations that never panned out. So maybe now that everyone is bummed is when this team will start moving forward.

This off-season officially sucks ass. We got so many holes to fill with so little time.
Wish we could have talked him into playing Safety, he still has some value but it's clearly not at CB any more. But he did some good things while he was here and I wish him the best of luck in Cincy.
So basically when Cromartie returns to the Jets the niners will have a secondary that consists of Spencer as the #1 and I guess Brown as the #2 with Mays and Smith as the safeties?

A recipe for every team to pass for for more yards than they ever dreamed of on us....

I can't bear to think of the secondary being worse than it was last year. Smells like a few 400 yard passing performances are on their way.

Have fun getting burned in Cincy.

With even less safety help.

I'm not even sure that's possible.

Even Hines Ward is going to be burning him

Now can we all agree that this has been the worst FA period in the last 6 years?

06-08 the 9ers were aggressive in free agency and it never panned out.

The only big-time contracts we handed out were to Clements and Justin Smith. We would have been a lot worse without them, especially Smith.

I'm not too sure what to think about this. I was hoping we would resign him but that ain't gonna happen anymore. Wtf is our FO doing???

Same thing super bowl winning front offices do. Letting the losing teams overspend in FA and building through the draft and augmenting with lowpriced veterans if needed. It works, its proven. Teams who win free agency are not the teams who win superbowls.

The difference between good teams and us is WE DO NOT DRAFT WELL. We won't be a winning team built strictly through the draft like Pitt, Indy or NE because we suck at drafting players. We hit on a couple first rounders (VD, Willis) and ONE 3rd rounder (Gore), other than that it's been nothing but mediocrity at best.

Ummm... How about reading closer and looking at the years in question.

LOL.

Plus, Jonas Jennings did great when he was healthy in 2006. He was a big part of the O-Line next to Larry Allen when the O-Line was actually our strength. He fell off shortly after, though.
