Yeah I trust that than some off beat website I never heard of giving out some sort of point system that doesn't make any sense.

Do you honestly believe that it is someone from the 49ers organization that is saying we are interested in these players?
Let me answer your question with a question. Do you honestly believe anything Baalke or York says these days?
P.S. And yes I do think they are leaking thier name out there with free agents. What better way to mislead people that your trying, but really aren't.
So you think it's more likely that York/Baalke spread the rumor to mislead the fans, even though when the free agent doesn't sign the letdown appears to be doing more damage than any goodwill that was achieved from the initial rumor. You believe that is the most likely scenario, not that the player's agent would leak the information in order to drive up the price for his client.
I don't agree with your assertion.

My point exactly. Maybe age is a big negative in the point system? I wish I could see more stats like how many sacks he allowed, pancakes, offsides and false start penalties. I think as a center the big thing is calling out blocks and recognizing the blitz and just being available to play.

Despite the fact that the probowl is a FAN VOTED process (see: DeAngelo Hall making it every year, or Pouncey making it this year despite being the 28th best Center in football). Good logic though, indeed.... Or do you trust your eyes? How well did that Chicago line play the past few years? (Hint, they were dead last last year in pass protection).Originally posted by 24plus25er:

But hes not anymore, bottom line. Youd probably have just at effectiveness having an open competition of UDFA's than starting Kreutz and paying him a few million based on the fact that he was a good center 5 years ago.Originally posted by smithgdwg:Originally posted by 24plus25er:

ESPN "Expert's Take":
Olin Kreutz has been one of the most consistent and durable centers in the league over the past 13 seasons. Kreutz is an averaged-sized player with good athleticism and deceptive strength. He wins with intelligence, toughness, tenacity, technique, power, quickness and agility. His natural instincts allow him to gain leverage versus larger defenders with proper angles, hand use and body positioning. Kreutz is excellent at line calls and making adjustments. He can slam, scoop up to the second level and lock on to linebackers in space well. His lack of natural girth tends to show up versus powerful bull-rushers because he struggles at times to anchor in the middle. Kreutz is still playing at a high level as the Bears' center and should continue his excellent NFL career in 2011.

Who is this expert? And where does he state his basis for this information? This is the problem with alot of retired scouts working for ESPN, they simply let a guy's reputation impact their judgement and fill their 'scouting reports' on a bunch of superlatives that ultimately mean nothing. Again, where are the facts? I posted em, no one else has. People just want NAMEZ. You know, like Nate Clements, or Bryan Westbrook etc etc

You must work for this website, because you sure are getting upset that we don't agree with it's grade on Kruetz. Regardless of what this website says, you can't dent the facts. He's a durable center, with a lot of experience in the trenches. This is the exact type of guy we need to help mold our young guys. Also he may be able to teach Joe Staley a thing or two about staying healthy. Honestly I think OK can have 2-3 good seasons with us, he has NEVER played around 3 first round offensive linemen and a second rounder. Not trying to argue, just seems like a good fit to me.

ClaytonESPN John Clayton
If the 49ers consider signing Olin Kreutz, I think it would be the same impact as Matt Birk going to Balt, which turned out great.

Hopefully tomorrow we finally get some good news and sign Kreutz and Plax and the icing on the cake would be if we sign Cromartie too
