I wouldn't be upset if we did sign him. Because I am younger than a lot of niner fans out there, I first became a huge fan of the team toward the end of Jerry's time here and during TO's time here. Some of my best 49er memories were because of him. The catch 2, the Dallas star, pointing out the scoreboard to Strahan after the niners came back from 24 down in the playoffs, etc.
The only reason I think I would stay away isn't even because I think he has diva issues. The reason I might not sign him is because there is no doubt that a media circus would follow. That's the last thing this team needs going into the playoffs. Harbaugh fuels our guys with the fact that they get little exposure. If Owens signs, all that goes out the window.

...is gonna sign with...EDD (for unemployment benefits). When the Niners have two healthy WRs and T.O. doesn't even get a call or tryout, you know he burned bridges with management/owners when he left here years ago. Now, seems like he's practically begging and Harbaugh/Baalke still haven't caved in. Give it up, T.O. No team is interested, even PS guys are getting called before you.

do you actually have sources or do you see this as an opportunity to guess at something and if it actually happens you look like you have some insider info?

Well I hope he signs with the NFL network or ESPN because he would be good on TV. A lot better than dumb Keyshawn.

49ers not signing TO - don't think it is all about him impacting team chemistry as a teammate. I think it probably has more to do with the media spot light it would create. It would be had for the 49ers to maintain their blue collar, below the radar, underdog image with the media frenzy that would be around the team with TO signed.

According to 103.3 ESPN, Drew Pearson just announced TO is close to signing with his team, the Allen Wranglers of the Indoor Football League!
link
^^ Sorry, link is old but Pearson said on the radio this afternoon that the deal is near complete and as part of the deal Owens will have partial ownership of the team. He talked about NFL teams staying away because they didn't want the circus, while they WANT the circus and $$ he'll bring in. Will likely see more on this soon...
