He has been exposed as a little overrated. They should have asked him to take a pay cut and kept him. But oh well.

He's nothing special IMO. Talk about overrated.

I think bowman and spikes are better. Hawk is basically a derek smith. Gets some tackles but would be a downgrade.
no way. hawk is a ball hawk lol. he's more proven than bowman, and a lot younger than spikes. sorry but spikes is hurting us in the passing game, but then again it's not like hawk would help us out there. i wouldn't mind hawk. he's a gamer
spikes is great in coverage i don't know what you've been watching

He hasn't been anything special but is solid and sturdy (hasn't missed a game in his career yet) - and playing next to Willis couldn't hurt his game. I'm not salivating over the thought of signing him but it wouldn't be a bad thing either....as long as it didn't mean losing Takeo next season.

ILB is one of the few spots on this that we're set for both the short and long term, no need to even think about this guy

Indeed. We didn't draft Bowman for nothing.
If Hawk was a beast, well then maybe. But even then we'd be overspending.
Dude just isn't that great. I'd rather roll with Takeo again, and it seems like he'll be coming back with the lifting he's been doing with #52.

I was so happy when the pack took him at number 5 in 06. I really thought that Nolan was gonna take him if he was there. Davis or Ngata were the guys I wanted all along.
I think hes a good linebacker but even being as young as he is I dont think hes any better than Spikes. Bowman could be better long term than Hawk.
And his brother in law is just biased. They still would have won the superbowl without Hawk.

Dude...the only problem with Spikes is that he's gonna retire in a year or 2. The guy had one of his best years last season, and is basically a coach on the field. He's a beast. Big time.

I'm guessing the brother in-law is Brady Quinn?

How could anybody say that AJ Hawk is an above average linebacker? How could you even come close to saying that AJ Hawk is a ball hawk? This is a lot of over hype for a guy who is average at best.
I'm going to assume that the people are jumping on the "SIGN HIM NOW" bandwagon are also the people who wanted to draft him. It doesn't make sense to sign him. Bowman and Spikes are both much better options to play next to Willis.
