Can Matt Hasselbeck be our "starter" in 2011?

Unless Harbaugh was convinced Hasselback would start, there would be no reason to bring him here other than backup insurance, and I don't believe Matt would come here unless he was pretty much assured he would be the starter.

Ain't gonna happen...

Hasselbeck is twice the QB Alex Smith is. If we wanted him, he'd be guaranteed the starting job. It'd be a slap in the face to Hasselbeck to pit him against Alex Smith in a competition...and frankly, it'd be unfair to poor ol' Alex as well.

Regardless, I don't think it'll happen...and not because Harbaugh thinks Alex Smith is our savior (LOL), but because I believe Harbaugh wants to roll with what we have and make future decisions based on what he sees out of AS/CK this year.

Made my morning brighter, thanks!

Hasselbeck would be a huge upgrade over anyone on our roster. However, there are some players that are synonomus with their team. Hasselbeck is a Seagul as far as I'm concerned. For some reason getting him seems like cheating to me. I felt the same way about Warner. I dont want him, and it's purely based on principle.

Hasselbeck lead a s**tty Seattle offense to the second round of the playoffs... It's really not that funny.
he's a titan, done deal
I'd be content with him as our starter over Alex Smith; if Matt was to stay healthy enough he could worm us into the playoffs (simply because he is a mid-tier QB, and would be the only QB on our squad well-versed within the WCO; that would be huge for Kaep).

But yeah, I also think he's going to the Titans.

Did anyone see Steve Young on ESPN. He felt that Hasselbeck will be headed to the Niners. While Tim Hasselbeck was on the border, still feel it is a great fit.

Steve Young is pointing to 49ers as potential landing spot for Matthew Hasselbeck. "I think he going to San Francisco," Young said on ESPN.

Get it done, Baalke!
Matt's stats the last 3 years..

2010 stats = 12 TDs, 17ints, 3001 yards, 73.2 rating.
2009 stats = 17tds, 17ints, 3029 yards, 75.1 rating
2008 stats = 5 TDs, 10 int, 1216 yards, 57.8 rating

I still think he'd be a good addition but, like Alex, I wouldn't put all my hopes on this guy. I think Matt's best days are behind him (thanks to Willis )

Is that better than Alex? I don't wanna do maths....

Kidding... it really doesn't matter. I'm always telling people it's a team game.
