How would you rebuild the 9ers if we do horribly this year and fall apart?

Fire Sing, Raye

1. Hire Jim Harbaugh as HC

2. Trade for Peyton Manning, He'll teacher his offesne to Harbaugh
(bonus) We get an OC / QB in 1

3. Sign Champ Bailey

4. Trade for Demarcus Ware

5. Resign Goldson, Franklin, Ahmad, and Alex Smith, hes still young so he can learn behind manning

Manning Gore Vernon Crabtree Ginn
Smith Franklin Willis Brooks Ware Bailey Mays Goldson

Cap Hell for 5 Years

(5 Years later)

1. Sign Sam Bradford

2. Sign Joe Haden

3. Trade for Brian Orakpo

4. Resign Taylor Mays

5. Crabtree hates the 9ers so he wont resign, Dez Bryant will also be a FA, sign him

6. Sign CJ Spiller

Bradford CJ Spiller Dez Bryant Vernon
Willis Haden Ware Mays Orakpo

Cap Hell for the Next 15 years, BUT, we have 5 more superbowls
In reality, this is a passing league. That being said, I'd do the following:

1. Fire Singletary
2. Hire Jim Harbaugh
3. Do WHATEVER IT TAKES to get either Luck or Locker in the draft.

That takes care of the coaching (a coach who actually knows what the hell he's doing, and knows offense) and the most important position on the team. We already have an offensive line that can be very good once the rookies get it together and it gels. If Crabtree doesn't become a legitimate #1 by the end of this year, I'd look into a legit veteran like Randy Moss. The defense will still be good even if we lose Lawson as long as Brooks can push the run to the inside like Manny does. I'd try to keep Goldson just because we don't have anyone else at FS. RJF looks like he might be able to replace Franklin next year. Everyone else is still gonna be there.

I guess it worked last time. Whatever. I'm down.
Go back to the WCO.. "bring in someone from the Walsh tree to run the offense"

Find a dominating 3-4 lineman, either a DE or NT, we need more talent on the D-Line

Draft or sign a top notch OLB that can rush the passer...get rid of Haralson

Draft more talent for the secondary

Find a dominating Center to anchor the offensive line

Get another WR with #1 or #2 potential, Morgan is not going to be a dominating #2 WR....he is a #3 at best

1. Look for an offensive coach say maybe Harbaugh of Stanford.

2a. Fire Jimmy Raye

2b. Hire Tom Rathman as OC.

3. Make Logan Mankins the prize free agent.

4. Sign Matt Hasselbeck as stop gap QB/mentor.

5. Take a chance on Champ Bailey.

6. Draft Ryan Mallet, cause I doubt Andrew Luck will declare for the draft.

7. Draft best available Center in 2nd round.

Hasselback is 35

And still picked apart the 49ers. Hasselbeck is better than most the QB's in the NFL today. I actually think Seattle would be stupid to let him go.

i like all of ur suggestions except......id rather go after a proven WC guy like Gruden and id take Luck over Mallet. I love the Hasslebeck idea though

Shoot if Gruden wouldn't mind becoming an OC than I'd be all for it. And don't get me wrong, if Luck declared this year, then no doubt it would be Luck over Mallet.

This is all we have to do, until then we continue to drift aimlessly. It's not the players, coaches, fans or stadium. What the hell is it with Ohio ownership? Do we want to be the Bengals or Browns?
Sorry, it can't be done. The problem is the Yorks, who are bound and determined to do it their way, without any strong football GM or experienced HC. Associated problem, Yorks won't sell. Therefore, we are going to be stuck with what we have or the equivalent (Nolan to Sing as HC, TDON to McCloughan to no one as GM, HOS to Raye as OC). Since Yorks have bought into Paraag's theory of picking newbie HC's (not a Shanahan or Holmgren or even Marty), it will be the same insanity all over again.

If we do horribly undoubtedly Alex will have failed, and we are back to square one at qb. Will need to draft a good young QBOTF, not an old guy who is on his last legs and injury prone, which means the team will take a few (or several) years to develop by which time we will need to be replacing Gore and others. Also, Raye and the digit offense will have failed, so we will be back to square one in installing a new offensive system (perhaps the WCO) with different player profiles. In the meantime skilled assistant coaches like Manusky and Mike Johnson will leave for promotions elsewhere and we will be again be looking for two years in the same system as "continuity".

If Yorks do push the new stadium along far enough to send out bills for PSL's, I am not going to be interested.

Fixed. I like the first 3 ideas. But I don't want Locker. Its Luck or Bust with me. I hope we can get a CB also, if that means draft one 1st round this year, then wait for Luck. Or if Luck comes out this year, then get a stop-gap CB like Champ Bailey for a year, then draft a CB 1st the next year. I just want Luck in 49er colors with Harbaugh calling the shots.

Anyone who thinks Gruden or Harbaugh would be open to becoming an OC is delusional. Why would Harbaugh leave what he's built at stanford where he can now recruit really good talent in a vulnerable PAC 10 to OC a team with no QB? Why would a former super bowl winning coach like Gruden leave a cushy job at ESPN just so he can be bossed around by a guy less knowledgeable than him in Sing? Come on that's ridiculous. If Sing doesn't get us to the playoffs than he has to go.

Hire Gruden.

Draft Mallet or Luck.

Bo back to 4-3 D, put Smith, Jean-Francois, Franklin, McDonald/Brooks should be stout upfront and Smith and McDonald/Brooks should be able to get to the QB. Put Lawson, Willis, and Bowman at the LB spots. Gives us 3 lbs that can fly around and are good against the run and dropping back.

Draft a CB, sign another CB, and cut Lewis. Start Mays at SS.

It's a simple fix actually. FIND A VIABLE QB ! If the team falls apart this year, chances are that Alex Smith will have played a big hand in it. I think we have a winning team that lacks one piece of the puzzle. Just take a look at this past week's loss against the Saints. It was really a one man show. When Alex struggled in the opening quarter, the Saints put up 9 points. When Alex played well, the rest of the team rallied.

As much as everyone hates to admit it, this is still a quarterback's league. Good quarterbacks make good teams......and in all seriousness, this is a good team lacking in one key position.

If we were to fall apart, Id replace Smith and go into next season with nothing more than a good quarterback that can give us some good playing minutes.
