How would you rebuild the 9ers if we do horribly this year and fall apart?

1. Look for an offensive coach say maybe Harbaugh of Stanford.

2a. Fire Jimmy Raye

2b. Hire Tom Rathman as OC.

3. Make Logan Mankins the prize free agent.

4. Sign Matt Hasselbeck as stop gap QB/mentor.

5. Take a chance on Champ Bailey.

6. Draft Ryan Mallet, cause I doubt Andrew Luck will declare for the draft.

7. Draft best available Center in 2nd round.

Id rather take a CB in the 2nd round and have Champ as a stop gap/Mentor as well

You may be right, as a matter of fact I had CB there in the first place. But then I thought, good CB's always can be had in the 3rd and 4th rounds too.
If a quarterback like McNabb comes along I'd give the franchise whatever they wanted.

Come on Big Ben 3rd time is a charm.
I don't think talent is the problem, at least not in our core group of players, anyway.

There are definite question marks though:

1. QB
2. HC
3. OC
4. PR/KR
5. DB

If we put up a few more games like the last one and put ourselves out of contention, yeah it's time to blow it up. I'd be on the Harbaugh bandwagon for sure.

But I think it's still way too early to make that determination. Way too early.

I guess everyone has their own idea of horrible. By "horribly" I going with below 500 ball.

Not necessarily in this order:

A). Hire a true WCO coordinator and use the info in the vaults.

B). If we reach horrible then Alex has failed. So, I suggest 2 moves. First, bring back Jeff Garcia to play one season and 2nd Draft a QB who will fit that scheme. Garcia would have to mentor the rookie QB and help develop him.

C). Take a very hard look to determine who is part of the solution and who is part of the problem. There are no sacred cows. If Crabtree is viewed as part of the problem we then could trade him and get another first round pick. If Sing or any other coach is part of the problem the send them to the unemployment line.

D). Pick up a CB, and OG and a real pass rusher. That means relplacing Harelson.

This is based on below 500 ball.

I feel we have some very good talent on the OLine, Dline and LB. Dixon, Gore are keepers and Norris should be sent packing.

D).

This discussion is moot. To properly rebuild a team you need a proven NFL GM, the owner would have to pay him good money, give him the checkbook and get the hell out of the way. That is not going to happen as long as the Yorks own the team. Everyone needs to accept the situation for what it is. Time to understand 8-8 is the ceiling and get excited when that is achieved.
1. Keep Singletary.....Fire Raye & Sullivan (Unless the WR's show something)
2. Make Mike Johnson OC
3. Sign Mike Vick & Logan Mankins
4. Draft a QB 1st round (if one is there), CB 2nd, Pass Rush 3rd
5. Restructure Nate Clements contract or cut him

Forgot to put in there sign Lawson, Goldson, Spikes, Baas...cut T.Brown, Harelson, Wragge....& Look for a future center!
1. Fire Singletary
2. Fire Raye
3. Get rid of Alex and sign a vet QB as a two year buffer. Draft a young QB and develop him.
4. Get rid of Nate Clements and draft a young stud CB.
5. Look for a seasoned WR to replace Morgan.

But the most important point is that Jed York must have a plan. Think proactively and don't let these things wait till the last minute!
I would start by sacrificing a Virgin

Where is that Riki poster at?

1. draft ryan mallet. he is a flat out beast with a great arm and great decision making.
2. draft a corner in the second round.
3. draft a center and a outside linebacker in the next rounds.
4. firs coach sing and hire jon gruden or shcottenhiemer.
5. pick up a up to date offensive coordinator who HAS HAD SUCCESS!!!!!!!
If we do this we should be good

I'm a believer that the HC needs to be an Offensive specialist. It will bring a better stability on the team. I love coach Sinletary's motivation, but it appears we have happy motivated team after a loss! But when I caid Offensive minded, I don't mean Mike Martz! I'm more of a Mike McCarthy,Mike Shanahan,Norv Turner,Sean Peyton type of OC. The crazy part is two of those could've been easily been our Head Coach. It's not all Singletary's fault, It's his job to believe in all his players. I think he believed in Alex Smith too much!

Changes in order!

1.QB- get a legit vet to start that can give a Rookie that we draft time to develop.Rookie cant learn from Smith.
2.OC- bring back West Coast
3 HC-Love his motivation,I even love our Defense. But it's so one sided that our offense is so bad it brought the defense down also. Need Offensive minded coach.Defense is easier to replace.
4.DB- they flatout sucked! made Mike Williams look like Moss.

If we win against New Orleans then I was just kidding! If not I'm serious!Lol..
hire leonardo dicaprio to perform an inception on jed york to sell the 49ers to Steve Young and Brent Jones.
Okay I have another plan

Fire Sing and his staff
New QB Sign Pennington
Hire Gruden
Switch to a 4-3 D with Willis in the middle and Bowman/McKillop next to him(IDK couldn't think of anyone better than McKillop but there probably is someone)
let Lawson go he'll want to be overpaid
Draft Patrick Peterson in the first
re-sign Goldson
cut Nate
cut Mike Lewis
let Franklin go
draft Devlin or another QB in the 2nd round, maybe Enderle in the 3rd(honestly never seen him play just seen him ranked there on draft sites and stuff. I like McElroy but for some reason he's not a highly thought of prospect???) and let them sit and develop behind Pennington
Resign Ray McDonald
Sign Mathias Kiwanuka

Defense looks like:
Starting DL: Justin Smith/RJF/Ray MacDonald/Kiwanuka
Starting LBs: Bowman/Willis/McKillop
Starting DBs: Peterson/Spencer/Goldson/Mays

offense:
QB: Pennington/Devlin or other developmental QB
WR: Crabtree/Morgan/Zeigler/Ginn/Hill/Williams(maybe draft a guy in the 3rd like a Greg Little if he slips or something)
RB: Gore/Dixon/draft pick or Westbrook(since he has played in a WCO)
OLine: Staley/Iupati/Heitman(I think Baas at C isn't working out)/Chilo/Davis
TE: Davis/Walker/Byham
FB: Caulcrick or bring back Miller or draft a guy but it doesn't matter that much.

thoughts?

i like all of ur suggestions except......id rather go after a proven WC guy like Gruden and id take Luck over Mallet. I love the Hasslebeck idea though
I would take NinerTalk's advice and sack everyone.
