Niners may have to wait for a few madatory roster cutdowns if they want to add a talented RB, there will be some good RB's relaesed before the regular season starts

I'd love to have Westbrook, but there must be a reason he doesnt have a job already

In the meantime, we will see alot of TD and M'Rob in the first half, and I bet Caulcrick is called upon to eat up carries in the 2nd half of the preseason games

Hopefully T'Dixon looks great and we can go with him as the #2, and just keep 5 RB/FB's (Gore, TD, M'Rob. Mo and Miller)

Who knows..maybe M'Rob has learned how to hit the hole and can be a viable 3rd down back, I know thats a reach though

Westbrook's deal is this:

1.) He already has offers from the Rams and the Broncos but he was hoping to get an offer from a contender.
2.) He was waiting to sign because he didn't want to go through an entire training camp (those legs have a lot of mileage).
3.) Some teams are scared off by his recent history with concussions. The guy might be one big hit away from retirement.

Westbrook and the 49ers seem like a good fit to me. He won't be asked to do too much and we can continue to develop Dixon. If he works out, he could be a tremendous addition. If he doesn't, we still have Dixon. I hope the 9ers are at least talking to Westbrook's people this weekend.

I agree with everything you said, and Westbrook is a very good pass catcher out of the backfield on 3rd downs. They need to get this done.

The 49ers are OK at running back, basically same as they were last season. Sub Dixon for Coffee and call it good.

I agree 100%. With any luck Dixon will turn out to be more produtive and a better back up than Coffee...........

Luck didn't help us when Gore went down.

I'm wondering who takes his roster spot & does he get a chance to compete with Dixon? Thoughts? Names?

Neither did the OL.

Westbrook or the 49ers acquire a running back via mid-late round draft pick.

Perhaps Felix Jones?

Dude Dallas would never trade Felix Jones

...and the Bills won't trade Fred Jackson either.

The yawning pick could be a good gif.
Well it sounds like Westbrook is going to sign with the Rams so, whats plan B?

That sucks, it's slim pickings after him if he's healthy. Oh well, I guess it's the same as last year where we just have to hope Gore stays healthy.

we could have either westbrook or trade for lynch, but as u stated the rams are gonna sign westbrook and seattle will get lynch (if hes traded) and we will end up with some jerk off rb nobody has heard of unless ur a fan of a div 2 school in north dakota

Buffalo got banged up bad in their last game, they wont trade any RB right now, they need the depth.

wait for teams to cut down to 53 players , then you can find someone with better value.
