Brennan struggled in training camp, prompting the Redskins to acquire quarterback John Beck from the Baltimore Ravens for cornerback Doug Dutch earlier on Monday. Brennan, however, said the Redskins' decision to remove him from the roster and add Beck was based only on their strong interest in Beck.

"It had nothing to do with my play," Brennan said. "To be honest with you, it was never a situation with me playing and how I did. It was basically that they always had a real strong interest in John Beck. [Offensive coordinator] Kyle [Shanahan] said he had looked into getting John early on and they couldn't get him. He was excited about my film and interested in working with me. But when this deal came down, they jumped on it. They told me they wanted to give me an opportunity to grow.

Translation from anyone not named Colt Brennan: "They were excited to get rid of Brennan when they viewed his film. They told him that they wanted to give him an opportunity to grow with another team foolish enough to sign him."

50% funny / 50% fact.

So, I'm still half correct in my attempt, not bad.

50% lame and 50% your IMO, which is still not a fact. OK maybe in your eyes you think your opinion is a fact.

You think Brennan would say they let me go bc I suck and im lazy?

Sucks when you can't handle the truth doesn't it. It must make you feel much better to make assumptions like that.

LOL
your source as to Brennan being able to play in the NFL is Brennan himself

That is one helluva credible source....

Im sold!!!!!

Excuse me but didn't I just show you a video of Colt scoring TD's in the NFL??? In which he had a better rookie Preseason performance than our own Alex Smith.

Oh yeah, he did well in games that didnt matter against players that have never made an NFL team.

By the way, his last preseason he sucked so bad.....

Ex-Redskins coach Jim Zorn reportedly wanted to cut QB Colt Brennan before the 2009 season started.
Brennan had a miserable 2009, playing poorly in three straight preseason games before landing on injured reserve with a torn labrum in his hip. He's also turned off some members of the organization with a cocky attitude (despite his lack of NFL success). Brennan isn't the quarterback of the future, and he may not make the team in 2010.

Dude, Alex Smith sucked in Preseason, Philip Rivers and so, difference is, they had a chance to redeem themselves in the regualr season. Its funny how you people judge a player in Preseason, just like how Nate Davis is god around here cause he also lit it up against 3rd stringers.

And regardless of the reports, the fact of the matter is, Jim Zorn didn't release him. All we can go by is what Brennan has said, or unless you were in that meeting to speaking with Shanahan??

I see your point and agree that he hasnt had enough snaps to be officially ruled out as an NFL player.

But its not looking good as far as being beat out by the likes of Rex Grossman, Todd Collins, and John Beck.......
People still think Colt Brennan is good? WHY?!?

Umm I could've sworn he smoked or kicked the s**t outta ASU!!!

In all seriousness, I didn't say anything about how good he could be in the NFL. Pretty much the only thing I've stated was that he CAN play in the NFL. And IMO, I think he would be a pretty decent back up in this league.

What he did in college has very little to do with what he CAN do in the NFL.

Plenty of college QBs put up big numbers and can't do s**t in the NFL. Brennan has one of the weakest arms I've ever seen by a QB that put up such good numbers in the CFB. And I'm not talking about his ability to do long 30yrd passes, I'm talking about his ability to hit 8-9yrd slants or outs.

ASU is a great example of this. In that game our starting CBs were both injured, and even when healthy our pass D was god awful. Koetter (our coach at the time) couldn't teach a team to defend the pass for the life of him. We were throwing in non-scholarship guys to cover your WRs.

He did good in his preseason games but as we all know, preseason is night and day different then regular season. Often the players with the best stats in preseason are actually borderline 53-man squad talent outdoing borderline practice squad players.

I think the Redskins did cut him to do him a favor to find a team has a chance at making, because he had ZERO chance at making the Redskins squad. Now he is on the Raiders where he will be competing with Gradkowski, Frye, Campbell, Boller. My guess is he doesn't make it the regular squad.

What do you think he will do for the Raiders?

Edit: you probably think I'm a hater but I dont think I am. Every year there seems to be a QB playing a spread pass heavy offence putting up insane numbers, and people think that translates to the NFL. But year after year, that isn't the TRUTH!

Out of the Top 10 CFB passers, only ONE has solid NFL career (Phillip Rivers). And that OC is now the OC at ASU

2nd Edit: I guess there could be two that make it if Kolb works out in Philly.
