You guys are forgetting that Alan Faneca would have had to have WANTED to come here. And put yourselves in his shoes: why would he?
We've invested first and second round picks in talented players and as soon as they're ready, he'd be parked on the bench. If I were in Faneca's shoes, I'd want to go somewhere where I would play for sure and have a chance to rebuild my name if I played well because the parts around me were solid. With that, he can still get a good contract.
This is like Blount spurning us. It's bad for us as a team, but it's a better opportunity for the player.
And those are the breaks!

Great signing by the Cards....I can't believe he signed with a NFC west team....
I don't trust Chilo AT ALL
....I would rather have had Faneca...even if it was for 2 years...and it seems the Cards didn't pay much.
LuLz at the homers in this thread......I will say THANK GOD the Cards didn't get a true replacement for Warner
. Doesn't matter that we swept them last year...its not like we blew them out....we struggled on Offense, and Dashon Goldson basically won that second game for us.

he does return to former coaches and most likely a similar blocking scheme
Cards had that going for them

As long as Faneca can't throw for 30 TD's it won't really make a difference

Faneca plus Lutui means the defensive front seven has to bring their A-game.

I guess Franklin, Baas & Brooks don't count?
Nope, because we haven't extended them. They are all on one year deals of some sort. He's talking about real extensions, like a new multi year deal for Willis, Davis, Franklin, etc.
Brooks was a 2 year deal, but he's still an experiment.

He is 34 and he has started 185 games. That is a whole lot of mileage.
