If we resigned Franklin and got Joseph/Asomugha I would be content with the free agency period. Would be better if we got Kreutz as well. Frank Gore wanting a new contract doesn't help things. Still why not re-sign him for a few more years (he's under contract through this upcoming season)?

Other than that Wragge and McDonald were good signings. Not sure who will replace Carr but we save 2+ million so fine by me. Also, glad we are going to restructure Nate. Hopefully, it is around 2-3 million per year.

I wanted Mebane when he originally entered the draft! I thought we were gonna pick him where we selected Lawson.

Baalke and Harbaugh have selected players who want to play and not just for the money although it is always in consideration. I noticed the character aspect keeps
showing up in the makeup of the players. The one player who I believe showed the most negative trait in that area was Aubrayo Franklin, who seemed to produce when he wanted more money and indicated he wanted to go where the money was. Now it seems the niners no longer value his kind of me me attributes and so far appears that it is the same with other teams.

Sign Mebane anyway !!! Best way to counter a poor secondary is to add a stud DB (not looking likely) or to upgrade the front 7. We can add quality rotation and depth!

LDE - RayMac and RJF (for when we need extra beef for run stuff*ge)
NT - Mebane and Sopoaga (healthy rotation at NT till a dominant one emerges)
RDE - Justin Smith

Either NT could slide out to DE in a pinch. We could also have a depth battle and possible 6th DL spot (or practice squad) of Ian Williams, Tukuafu, or long-shot newcomers Siliga + Bulcke.

I think the team will look at two NT's recently released for depth: Kelly Gregg of Baltimore and Maake Kemoeatu of Washington.

I dont want Franklin now, by the time this ship turns around he'll be washed up. Time for the youth movement and hope we get some good luck like TB.
