We would rather not over pay and go 7-9 than over pay and go 11-5.

Sounds logical to me...

Chester Pitts would be the difference between 7-9 and 11-5?

lmao

I hope it's true, I looked on his Agents' twitter last night and it sounds like she's pushing for him to sign with SF as well.

I wasn't speaking specifically of Pitts, but yes I think a solid Oline can be the diffrence between 7-9 and 11-5. Pitts could be a very important piece of that puzzle.
I think everyone should go @ reply on Chester Pitts twitter and welcome him as a Niner

I don't think she's an agent. I think she's just his publicist.

A good O-Line makes a team much better. But is Pitts a significant upgrade over Baas?

Me too. It confuses the hell out of me. I never know who is typing the messages.

Definitely yes, Baas and Rachel combined are mediocre at best (up until now, that is). -But it's really up in the air, before Pitts suffered his con-current injuries (requiring facility reabilitation before the possible start of training camp) he started every game in his entire career.

Although... his recent set of injuries, for a linemen (even at age 30) could be the type of 'over the hill' setbacks that could lead to less production/continuity within the rest of his career (which explains why the Texans only wish to bring him back as a part-time starter/back-up).

That is meaningless. You know how crappy the Texans have been since they were established? yeah he's been part of all those lousy or mediocre at best teams. Remember David Carr running for his life in Houston? Yeah he was part of that line.

Baas is mediocre, I still think Rachal can get it back together and Pitts would be a marginal but definitely not significant upgrade. Would I like to have him on the team? Sure but he's not gonna make much of an impact IMO
This microfracture injury crap does not sound good for a guy his size to rebound from. I'll say no to Pitts.

Great another broke down lineman. Looks like a depth signing. He had 2 major knee problems not just one.

I don't understand the obsession with injured players? Why don't we look to develop diamonds in the rough rather than sign guys with some serious injury history for the OL?

It's b/c our GM doesn't value the guard position and believes you can find one anywhere. Therefore an injured player for cheap is right up his alley. Do folks realize the Niners have drafted ONE OT this decade. And it's not saying folks can't come off injuries and be productive, but this guy is coming off a torn Meniscus, and micro fracture surgery for ligament damage. Not to mention he's coming from one of the worse o line's over the last 7 seasons. That's why i see it as nothing more than a depth signing if it happens. Which I think they really need along this o line. And what's the word on Sims?

Our GM is leaving
