Let's put this potential signing in perspective.
Currently our guards are Chilo, Baas and Wragge.
I'm pretty sure that Pitts has started for the Texans since day 1, as he was a 2nd round pick. Signing him to a 2 year contract for a relatively inexpensive price would provide quality depth at the very least.
The best case scenario for us is that Chilo becomes a regular starter and Pitts beats out Baas. Then we'd be able to let Baas go in 2010/11. Hopefully we acquire a youngster behind Pitts and Baas to eventually take over.
I personally don't want to see Wragge on the field anymore, unless he has to play Center, because Cody Wallace probably still isn't ready.

Baas is 2 years younger than Pitts. If a 30-something Pitts plays better than a 29 year old Baas then I'm all for it.

Pitts is a great guard. He's also played LT and can play RG if needed. He hasn't missed a game for his entire career with the Texans until the 2009 season, so I wouldn't have any problems signing him if he passes a physical.
The fact that the Seahawks, Lions, Bengals, 49ers, and Texans are all interested in him should give an indication of how concerned (or not-concerned as the case may be) NFL teams are about his injury.

If you're on twitter send Chester Pitts a message. Spikes has been trying to get him to sign, now he has to see how big the faithful are.

I've been tweeting him "Red'n'Gold" all day. He tweeted about all the 49er fans sending him messages.

He has been a left guard, but Pitts said if the 49ers are a predominant zone-blocking team, he could easily make the transition to right guard - to play next to a possible rookie right tackle.

In that case, does Rachal move to left or does Baas stay there?
