One thing for sure if they get Gaither in a trade Staley is gonna have to take a major pay cut. No way you can pay a Rt as much as Staley gets paid. I think he's the highest paid player in the league next year b/c of how much they front loaded his contract.

Obviously it's not good strategy overall, but if there was a cap we would be 40 million odd dollars under it. There is no cap, so how much less money do you think we will be paying than Dallas and Washington? If you have to pay 2 tackles big money to keep your QB off his ass and you've got plenty of money to do it, then why the hell not. Now is not the time to be tight assed.

I dont think that article does have any merit. Ask yourself this.. if the Ravens really thought he was a stud LT would they let him go? Would they not put a 1st AND 3rd round tender on him? Answer... of course they would. By putting only a first on him they are sending a message that he is available but at the same time sending a message that they feel a first round pick means more.
I would pass on him but would discuss a lesser offer if they really want to move him.

Well, I wouldn't say by only putting a 1st round tender on him that he's not good. They happen to have a really good slue of OTs and Gaither will be asking for a good amount of money as a LT. They have Oher who can slide over to LT and throw one of their RT backups in there.
Overall, I agree Gaither probably isn't worth a 1st, but he can play both left and right, which raises his value immensely. I would do it for a 2nd and a 4th.

I'm starting to think this is a strong possibility, If all elite tackles are gone come time we draft I think Sing an Co. make this deal at no.17. Gaither is young and his massive size fits the running style Sing wants.
