He's older, he can bring it, he's played in a Super Bowl, the guy is renowned for playing hard, and he won't cost an arm and a leg.
He'll get a look from the Niners.
I believe he's leaving because the Dolphins don't value him as a starter anymore. He'll probably want to start on our team so I don't see us taking any looks at him.
I'd start Porter over Takeo. Definitely rotate them to keep the older guys fresh, but Porter over Spikes in a heartbeat.
10-4 joey over takeo any day but i do love takeo
Spikes = ILB
Porter = OLB

Porter may end up being a 9er. Merriman was tendered and Arizona is cheap. Porter's desire to play close to home, could land him in SF at a discount.

He would be a good player to bring in. We need more players who play with passion and a desire to kill someone. It would be one more position we wouldn't have to draft and can put the pick towards OL.

I remember talk before about Porter being interested in coming back home and playing for Mikey Mike in SF...well he's been cut again by the fins
I say bring him in....great locker room leader and sack artist

Niners weren't interested in him then, they won't be now.

? he was cut a week or so ago but some technicality put him back on the fins roster and now they cut him for good
there were rumors of the 49ers being interested in him and him wanting to come back home
17.5 sacks in 2008 and 9 sacks last yr....seems logical to bring him in to me
screw travis laboy

Bringing in Porter would make too much sense (so it won't happen), which is why we're keeping a seat warm for our beloved Demetric Evans.

Not just no but Hell No.. WE need to re-sign our own players and draft Brandon Graham.... I'm a big advocate of the home grown product and hate free-agency.. If u have to sign free agents that means your front office sux and can't draft worth a crap !!!

Although he is restricted, i'd rather have Merriman.
