Our defense needs some swagger but I doubt we go after him. I think Scot wants to stick with "his" guys.

He's older, he can bring it, he's played in a Super Bowl, the guy is renowned for playing hard, and he won't cost an arm and a leg.
He'll get a look from the Niners.

And he may prove to be a good mentor to Haralson and Brooks. I would take a look especially since we are the front runner to win the NFC West after Warner retired. Porter can help us in an area we are currently inconsistent in and provide the leadership experience we need especially if we make the playoffs. He may be emotional but that can be a good thing as well. And Singletary with HOF background and intesity, may help hone that emotion.

Vernon had a mouth..and Passion that made him look like a locker room hazard..whatd he do after Sing set him straight? came out and tied a League TD record.. Takeo Spikes was old and at the end of his career..What did he do..Role played and was more than better than our other option in Ulbrich ever was... yep.. Sign him for minimal money and bring his intensity..
Haralson, Willis, Spikes, Brooks.... sick
Brooks, Willis, Spikers, Lawson...niceeee
Haralson Willis Spikes Porter .... nasty

Vernon was a kid, Porter is a grown man
Porter wants to start and NOT come off the field, this will not work with what we are trying to do!

I just heard on TV that the release of Joey Porter has been determined to be invalid due to salary cap rules

Porter would definently be an improvement if nothing more than to keep an awesome rotation of lb's maybe the best in the league. But as my fellow posters have just exclaimed he isn't available until free agency which may be a plus for us because who knows what is going to happen between now and then plus even if we don't get him i'm pretty proud of what we got considering the production we have had in the past and now the production we have got. I hope we go for Porter and negate the need to draft graham which will probably already be gone by the time we draft.

I believe he's leaving because the Dolphins don't value him as a starter anymore. He'll probably want to start on our team so I don't see us taking any looks at him.
