alex smith played a good season for a guy who didnt play since i dont even know and behind such a s**tty o-line like he had.
should we screw him for that with getting mcnabb? alex isnt russell or bulger so far, so we dont have to hurry with hiring a "new" QB for the starter job.
first we should build a good enough team around him...the vikings went to the playoffs last year without a good qb, i think that even alex is better than t. jackson.

i understand that some of you want to the playoffs so bad but i think that some of you want it the wrong way...look at the patriots last year. they went nearly to the playoffs with such a crappy qb like cassel. why? because he played in a very talented team and a damn good system. ok, it also shows that you need a better qb to get to the superbowl...but where was mcnabb the last years??? not in the superbowl and i dont think that he will make our team that much better. the guy is way too inconsistent. look at his stats, he isnt that good anymore.
for the very first time alex faces sth like continuity what could be very advantageous for him and for the whole team...i dont want to take this chance away because a bunch of you guys cant wait another 1-2 years until we have our superbowl team :)

Fellas the 49ers I remember use to have 2 Hof-ers name Montana and Young and we had the fore-sight to let them compete! What ever happened to that way of thinking. What's wrong with Mcnabb competing with smith? If he is as good as you all are wishing he would be then he would win the competition and that would make the 49ers better! Fellas let's get back to that fore-sightedness! I wonder is that a word. I have an hunch that Sing is going to make a big move at the quaterback position whether in the off season or in the draft!

why do ppl think u can just plug players anywhere and have them perform?
first, McNabb is a WC qb, we dont run the wc offense.
second, how did Cutler do in Chicago?
third, yes mcnabb took his team to the playoffs and got their asses kicked. PHI has a lot more talent than we do, do u really think trading (draft picks) for him will upgrade our TEAM??

did you ever think about the fact that sometimes competition isnt such a good thing in sports? some sportsmen out there work a lot better without this pressure...
just one more: alex got enough pressure by his contract because it will expire next year and if he shouldnt step up, he will be done in san francisco.

and just like another said it already: mcnabb couldnt do anything with such a good talent around him in the playoffs...now, how should he improve us?
if we were talk about favre or manning, who are legends and who (will) perform at their best until the end of their careers, ok...it would be worth a discussion. but mcnabbs long-term form curve has a descending trend. no thanks...

Obviously you did not see Mcnabb play at syracuse because if you did you would know he is built to play in a vertical offense better than that dink and donk crap andy reid runs. Plus we have a dominant running game that the eagles do not have! Nor are they going to put a power running game with him. Okay let me just say it "He is 1000 times better than what we have!
