and even if he was to be fired, the 49ers front office would probably wait until March when all of the other guys in this thread have signed elsewhere, once again showing the weaknesses of our front office. And we'll end up with someone like Charlie Weis.

ummm, we have a HC already...

So far all we have is a motivational speaker...

I'm not saying fire Sing, or anything of that nature. But I am a little upset that there are 2-3 very good coaches that will be available for next season, and our coach has yet to prove anything except that he is stubborn, makes bad personnel decisions, and does not play to our strengths.

If we would have waited one more year, or just gave Sing a one year deal we would be in the running for a Coach with a winning record and a ring on his finger.

Cowher is not likely to come here however if in the case Sing got the axe (and that is a fairly big if)...we'd be foolish to at the very least not contact Coach Chin and gauge interest.

Hall of Fame coach trumps any coach we have.

And I like Sing, but I want a proven Super Bowl coach

who has more rings? I'll take that person lol

While Carolina makes sense geographically, they are a mess. A team like Houston would be a good fit for him because they have talent, a good QB, and just underachieve and can't finish games. I think that will be the most attractive job for those reasons, plus the owner is desperate enough to spend what it takes.
As far as retreads in general, SB rings or not, how many guys have won a SB with one team, then gone somewhere else and had success, other than Parcells, maybe Shula?

Cowher has been somewhat of an inconsistent coach his teams make the playoffs for several years, drop off a bit then come back.. so it's hard to say. The Panthers want to be exactly like the Steelers so grabbing Cowher would make sense, but to be honest none of the coaches out there right now will totally make a huge difference their first year. The only guy I can think of who can help a team make the playoffs his first year is Parcells and he's in Miami for now

Yeah I mean why not stick to the conventional method which is to take a step back, suck for an extended period of time and THEN try to come back up.....I mean it's worked for us.......

I dont think the Panthers are a mess, they just need to switch QBs... they have 2 awesome RBs, Smith is still there ect. I think the Texans college head coach or something more fresh as the team has been through 2 long time NFL assistants (or in Capers case, coach to).

Chicago would work out well for Cowher, he could rebuild their defense but having Cutler there puts a damper on things... I'm not really sure
Bring him here and pay MEGA bucks for him

And I like Sing too
