How did OL become so thin across the NFL? I really think we need more protected roster spots for development. Right now teams have to sacrifice special teams to develop players at some positions like OL/DL/QB. Injuries are always an issue in the NFL, I think we would all like teams to have more time to develop players for more known depth when those injuries hit.

Having larger rosters would help - it's also an opportunity to develop younger coaches. Expand position group #s and have assists getting developed and younger guys. but regarding the lack of o line talent Is a longer story. It's been several years in the making.

There have been reports on this but to sum it up, a lot of the very athletic big guys are choosing defensive line and the type of offenses high school and college teams run don't really develop guys for the nfl.

so a lot of the best athletes for o line are playing defense more than ever and o line guys aren't very well developed for the league right now. There are some but it's a lot of projecting/developing guys. I saw some coach talking about how o line are the least prepared for the leagues play than he has ever seen. Idk how true that is but it's been said.

it's also a weird time cause guys are staying In college for 5, 6, 7 years etc.

overall there are numerous reasons but it's been talked about and reports done on it - I remember one of them was that defensive line pays more (especially if you aren't a tackle). Theres a reason there are only a couple teams with awesome o lines.

Definitely has to do with $ and level of difficulty DL typically gets paid more than OL outside of LT and even then a top DE gets paid more. You're trying to protect something you can't see and you can't really see the rest of the OL. If you give up a sack it's a huge blemish but as a DL if you don't create pressure you have others to cover up your lack of impact and you have plenty of other opportunities to redeem yourself. 1 sack given as an OL men is glaring.

Im afraid about RBs as well, think their is so much passion in that position people will still choose play that position but they rarely get paid for playing arguably the most dangerous position in all of sports. Remember an NBA player saying a bench warmer on his team makes as much as Saquan Barkley
OL body types choosing DL makes sense, hadn't thought of that. The best OL coaches and the best NFL like offenses are going to be targeted by NFL teams for their players, but if they get good players the big college programs will take those players away too. It's going to be interesting how things adjust in time as things settle in in the new transfer heavy NCAAF.
Glad he didn't sign with us. This dude is garbage.
