San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel played 10 snaps in the backfield, rushing eight times for 79 yards against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He wasn't the only receiver that lined up in the backfield. Jauan Jennings had one snap as a fullback. And let's not forget Trent Williams, who was an eligible receiver on one play. However, it's not like he lined up on the outside. And everyone knew Jimmy Garoppolo was likely going to look in the big offensive lineman's direction, leading to the defense being aggressive with him on coverage. Head coach Kyle Shanahan joined KNBR on Wednesday afternoon and explained why playing some of his guys out of position, as

It was his first career game with both a receiving and rushing touchdown. This is the second Offensive Player of the Week award for Samuel, with the first coming in Week 8 of this season. He joins Pro Football Hall of Famer Jerry Rice (1990, 1992 and 1994) as the only 49ers wide receivers to earn

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel is dealing with a shin contusion and has been limited during practice this week. That probably won't keep him out of Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, though. "I'll be ready for Sunday," Samuel said after practice. "We're just taking our time. Just had a shin contusion, so just taking it slow, but we'll be ready." That's good news for the Niners. Samuel is the team's leading receiver, and his 979 receiving yards rank second among all NFL receivers this season. After struggling through injuries last season, the wideout has made a significant leap in his third year. Many, including Samuel, credit one player's influence for that leap as an offensive weapon. Samuel doesn't typically give long

The San Francisco 49ers rewarded Fred Warner with a 5-year, $95 million contract extension during the offseason. The star linebacker looked to be worth every penny of that deal with how he played in his first three NFL seasons. Warner recorded four sacks, 14 quarterback hits, three interceptions, and five forced fumbles during that span. This season, Warner has no sacks, no quarterback hits, no interceptions, and no forced fumbles. His Pro Football Focus grade of 71.3 is the second-highest of his career, but a significant drop from the career-high grade of 88.6 earned last season. In pass coverage, opposing quarterbacks have completed 20 passes and a touchdown on 24 targets in Warner's direction, per Pro Football Focus. The 83.3 percent completion percentage given up this
