49ers sign CB Kyle Sebetic to practice squad

Dec 29, 2015 at 11:09 AM--

The San Francisco 49ers announced today that they have signed CB Kyle Sebetic to the practice squad.

Sebetic, who was signed as an undrafted free agent by the New York Giants in 2014, has spent much of this season with the Green Bay Packers. He was waived off of their practice squad on December 8.

He played college football at the University of Dayton, appearing in 40 games and starting 39 of those. During that time, he had 206 tackles, five interceptions, 33 passes defended, three forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, and earned First-Team All-Pioneer Football League honors in 2013.

The 49ers had room on the practice squad after RB Jarryd Hayne was elevated to the 53-man roster on Saturday.

By David Bonilla
Nov 27

The San Francisco 49ers are looking to bolster their safety depth following injuries to Talanoa Hufanga and George Odum. Hufanga's season came to an end in Week 11 after the starter suffered a torn ACL, leading to rookie Ji'Ayir Brown taking his place in the lineup. Odum sustained a torn biceps in last week's victory over the Seattle Seahawks. While his return for the playoffs is possible, the injuries prompted the 49ers to explore additional options. According to NFL Network and confirmed by NBC Sports Bay Area, the team plans to sign veteran Erik Harris to the practice squad. Harris, undrafted in 2012, spent three

By David Bonilla
Nov 21

On Friday, San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed that the team had hoped to sign Jason Verrett over the weekend after bringing the cornerback in for a second workout last week. A deal has not materialized, and Verrett remains unsigned. Ahead of Tuesday's practice, when asked about the likelihood of the signing being finalized, Shanahan said, "We'd like it to, but not sure yet." Shanahan did not disclose specific details about the challenges in finalizing a deal with Verrett. The cornerback could be seeking a spot on the active roster rather than on the practice squad, but that is just speculation. The continued interest in signing Verrett indicates that the team is confident about his recovery from the Achilles injury he sustained

The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their Week 13 contest against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Defensive tackle Arik Armstead is dealing with a foot injury and did not practice. When asked if it was a similar issue to what he dealt with last season (plantar fasciitis), head coach Kyle Shanahan responded, "Not sure exactly. I know it's his foot, but not sure how similar it is." Also missing from practice were running back Jordan Mason, who is dealing with a hamstring issue, and wide receiver Ray-Ray McCloud, who is recovering from a rib injury.
