49ers sign CB Kyle Sebetic to practice squad

Dec 29, 2015 at 11:09 AM--

The San Francisco 49ers announced today that they have signed CB Kyle Sebetic to the practice squad.

Sebetic, who was signed as an undrafted free agent by the New York Giants in 2014, has spent much of this season with the Green Bay Packers. He was waived off of their practice squad on December 8.

He played college football at the University of Dayton, appearing in 40 games and starting 39 of those. During that time, he had 206 tackles, five interceptions, 33 passes defended, three forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, and earned First-Team All-Pioneer Football League honors in 2013.

The 49ers had room on the practice squad after RB Jarryd Hayne was elevated to the 53-man roster on Saturday.

The San Francisco 49ers announced that the team has signed former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nate Sudfeld to a one-year deal. The Washington Football Team made Sudfeld a sixth-round selection out of Indiana in 2016. He signed with the Eagles practice squad before the 2017 season. Sudfeld completed five-of-12 attempts (41.7 percent) for 32 yards and an interception in one game with the Eagles last season, per NFL.com. San Francisco now has four quarterbacks on its roster. They are Jimmy Garoppolo, Josh Rosen, Josh Johnson, and now Sudfeld. The team is expected to draft a quarterback with the No. 3 overall pick, which they acquired on March 26 via a trade with the Miami Dolphins. Sudfeld, 27, has completed 67.6 percent of his passes for 188 yards

49ers' Kyle Shanahan respects Chris Simms' analysis but tells his friend nothing

NBC Sports analyst Chris Simms seems convinced that the San Francisco 49ers traded up to the No. 3 spot to select quarterback Mac Jones. Of course, as is the case with many analysts, that is just an educated guess. However, it held more weight and created some chatter because of Simms' relationship with 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan. The two are close friends. Simms has admitted that he doesn't have any real insight into Shanahan's thinking regarding this year's draft. He knows how the coach has looked at the quarterback position in the past, which led Simms to his conclusion about Jones. "I think it's Mac Jones. I do," Simms said on PFT Live today. "I don't know

Monday's press conference with San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch didn't offer any concrete clues on which quarterback they'll be taking with the third overall selection in the 2021 NFL Draft, but one thing did become perfectly clear -- they very much seem to like the options they have in front of them out of a group that will likely consist of Mac Jones of Alabama, Justin Fields of Ohio State, and Trey Lance of North Dakota State. The world won't know which of those players the 49ers like the most until the draft's first round takes place on April 29, but there's already been plenty of speculation as to who the selection will be. The widespread assumption is that quarterback Trevor Lawrence of Clemson will go at pick one to the
