49ers sign WR Andrew Turzilli, C Brian Folkerts to practice squad

Today, the San Francisco 49ers signed two players to their practice squad - WR Andrew Turzilli and C Brian Folkerts.

Earlier today, the Philadelphia Eagles signed OL Tanner Hawkinson from the 49ers' practice squad. On Saturday, the 49ers had promoted G Andrew Tiller to the active roster. These moves left two open spots on the practice squad.

Turzilli, who is 6-3 and 195 lbs, attended college at Rutgers and Kansas.

After Washburn, Folkerts spent time with the New Orleans Saints, San Jose SaberCats, and Carolina Panthers. He is 6-4 and 305 lbs.

John Lynch 'hopeful' 49ers will sign rookie QB Trey Lance soon

Today, San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch was asked about the contract situation with the team's No. 3 overall pick. Rookie quarterback Trey Lance remains the only unsigned player from the Niners' most recent draft class. "We're sure hopeful that he does (sign soon)," Lynch said. "Sometimes these things -- I just look at our history since we've been here. We've never had a holdout. It always seems to go down to the wire. It's important that he is here. "I think for any rookie, for every player, every rep counts, every meeting counts, but in particular at that position. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN and the player's agent, the San Francisco 49ers have signed quarterback Trey Lance to his four-year rookie deal. The team selected Lance out of North Dakota State with the No. 3 overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft. He was the last unsigned player from San Francisco's most recent draft class. The signing comes just hours before the 49ers go through their first practice of training camp. 49ers training camp practice schedule and media availability - Week 1

Training camp is about to kick off and the San Francisco 49ers will hold four consecutive days of practice starting on Wednesday. Head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch will open the week by speaking to reporters on Tuesday, followed by select players. Defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans and offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel are also scheduled to speak during the week.
