49ers sign WR Andrew Turzilli, C Brian Folkerts to practice squad

Today, the San Francisco 49ers signed two players to their practice squad - WR Andrew Turzilli and C Brian Folkerts.

Earlier today, the Philadelphia Eagles signed OL Tanner Hawkinson from the 49ers' practice squad. On Saturday, the 49ers had promoted G Andrew Tiller to the active roster. These moves left two open spots on the practice squad.

Turzilli, who is 6-3 and 195 lbs, attended college at Rutgers and Kansas.

After Washburn, Folkerts spent time with the New Orleans Saints, San Jose SaberCats, and Carolina Panthers. He is 6-4 and 305 lbs.

The San Francisco 49ers have signed RB Jeremy McNichols to the team's practice squad and released TE Troy Fumagalli. The 49ers Communications staff provided the following rundown. McNichols (5-9, 205) was originally drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the fifth round (162nd overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft. Throughout his five-year NFL career with the Buccaneers, San Francisco 49ers (2017), Indianapolis Colts (2018), Jacksonville Jaguars (2019) and Tennessee Titans (2020-21), he has appeared in 34 games and registered 90 carries for 364 yards (4.0 average) and one touchdown on the ground to go along with 40 receptions for 295 yards (7.4 average) and one touchdown through the air. The San Francisco 49ers have signed S Tre Norwood, CB Kendall Sheffield, and TE Jake Tonges to the team's practice squad and released RB Jeremy McNichols. The release of McNichols comes a day after the running back was signed. The 49ers Communications staff provided the following rundown.
