Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area is hearing that things are looking very, very good for RB Jarryd Hayne making the San Francisco 49ers' 53-man roster.

And why not? He has looked very good during preseason. Here is another look at the former rugby league superstar making a vicious hit on a San Diego Chargers defender and another of him making a solid tackle on special teams. Hayne seems to be able to do it all.

Ryan Sakamoto of Ninerfans.com posted the following video of Hayne's family and their reaction to the hit.

Defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw was among the players not on the field for team drills when the San Francisco 49ers conducted their first training camp practice earlier today. The team plans to ease him back into a normal workload after the second-year defender underwent multiple procedures on his knee this offseason. Kinlaw had what was described as a "clean-up procedure" performed on his knee following last season. More recently, he underwent a minor procedure to reduce some swelling in the knee. Unfortunately, that limited what he could do during practice today. "He had, traveling and stuff like a month ago or something, [his knee] just swelled up a little bit," Shanahan told reporters after practice. "I don't know whether they drained it or not. I'll get it

San Francisco 49ers special teams coordinator Richard Hightower spoke with reporters after training camp practice today. Here is everything he had to say. Transcript provided by the San Francisco 49ers Communications staff. Head coach Kyle Shanahan just said that you kind of stood on the table for WR Trent Sherfield. What did you like about him? Why did you want to bring him in? "That's an easy one because we've been playing against Trent. So I appreciate your question. He's one we've been playing against him, having to block him, having to just deal with him in Arizona and him being available. He's a really good player on special teams. I hear he's a good wideout as well. And he wanted to come here and prove that, and he

While San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan has always expressed significant confidence in his right tackle, Mike McGlinchey, fans and analysts have often been less than complimentary while discussing the offensive lineman's career as a whole. In May, the 49ers exercised McGlinchey's fifth-year option, meaning he will be with the team through the 2022 season. Beyond that, who knows? After defending himself against critics for much of last season, McGlinchey eventually admitted that there was room for improvement. "I think there's a lot of things I did really well all year," McGlinchey said in December. "There's things I did a lot better than last year.

Mike McGlinchey was visibly bigger when he reported to training camp this week. The San Francisco 49ers offensive tackle worked hard to bulk up this offseason, and discussed the process with reporters after Saturday's practice. McGlinchey shared that he now weighs between 315 and 320 pounds. It fluctuates between those numbers daily with practices. "It's about -- I want to say about 25 pounds heavier than last year," McGlinchey shared. "COVID was tough on me. It was tough on the resources. It was tough on getting into gyms. It was tough on making sure that (weight) stays up." While McGlinchey enjoyed a career-high Pro Football Focus run-blocking grade of 91.3 last season, his passing-blocking grade of 58.3 was a career-low. He acknowledges that there
