Sep 4, 2015 at 9:59 AM--

Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area is hearing that things are looking very, very good for RB Jarryd Hayne making the San Francisco 49ers' 53-man roster.

And why not? He has looked very good during preseason. Here is another look at the former rugby league superstar making a vicious hit on a San Diego Chargers defender and another of him making a solid tackle on special teams. Hayne seems to be able to do it all.

Ryan Sakamoto of Ninerfans.com posted the following video of Hayne's family and their reaction to the hit.

Richard Sherman explains why drafting Justin Fields makes sense for the 49ers

Mac Jones versus Justin Fields or Trey Lance. That is the big debate when it comes to the San Francisco 49ers and the 2021 NFL Draft. While the latter two names are more likely to excite the fanbase, there is a lot of speculation that the former might be the pick at No. 3 overall. One former 49ers defender, cornerback Richard Sherman, doesn't assume it will be Jones, though. He actually sees Fields as the perfect fit for San Francisco, assuming Trevor Lawrence and Zach Wilson are taken with the first two selections. Cornerback Tre'Davious White, the most recent guest on the Cris Collinsworth Podcast, which Sherman co-hosts, also believes the 49ers will select Fields. No matter who the San Francisco 49ers select at No. 3 overall later this month, the speculation surrounding the future of Jimmy Garoppolo will heat up. Right now, the plan is to hold onto the veteran quarterback, allowing the rookie to sit and learn in his first year. Still, there will be those who believe the 49ers should trade Garoppolo and that his trade value will plummet as soon as his eventual replacement is drafted. Field Yates joined ESPN's Get Up! and explained why it might be in the Niners' best interest to hold onto Garoppolo for the upcoming season, which head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch have stated as the plan. "We still plan on him leading us and getting as far as we can with him,"

Much was said of San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch's absences from Ohio State's pro day last week. Instead of traveling to Columbus to watch quarterback Justin Fields, a candidate to be drafted with the team's No. 3 overall pick, the duo was in Tuscaloosa for Alabama's pro day, watching Mac Jones. Why Jones over Fields? "[Just] talking with Fields' agent [David Mulugheta] and everything, we'll get another one from him too," Shanahan explained last week, per Kirk Larrabee. "So we'll be able to see him. That kind of made it an easy decision." According to Fields' agent, that next opportunity will come on
