On Tuesday, San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan revealed that rookie running back Elijah Mitchell was undergoing a procedure to repair a finger fracture sustained in the team's Week 10 victory over the Los Angeles Rams. However, the coach wasn't eliminating the possibility that Mitchell, the 49ers' leading rusher, might play this weekend against the Jacksonville Jaguars or even practice today. Shanahan told reporters today that Mitchell will not take part in the first practice of the week, but the coach believes he will be good for Sunday's game. The San Francisco 49ers find themselves backed up against the wall in a Monday night showdown with their divisional rival Los Angeles Rams. The 49ers are currently third in the NFC West with a 3-5 record. On the season, they are 0-4 at home and have been outscored 185-202 in their eight games. According to FiveThirtyEight.com the 49ers currently have an 18% chance of making the playoffs. That percentage jumps to 32% with a win, but plummets to 8% with a loss. Regardless of which playoff predictor you look at, it's safe to say this is the most important game of the 2021 season and has a huge impact on the 49ers' playoff hopes. The 49ers will have their hands full on both sides

On the heels of an extremely poor effort at home against the Arizona Cardinals, the team was looking to bounce back. No one expected the 49ers to win. But we had hoped they would at least play well and keep the game close. They did that and more, playing inspired football, and manhandling the Rams, beating them 31-10. Here are my 15 observations from the 49ers dominant win over the Rams: Jimmy Garoppolo had another really good game. He finished the game 15-19 for 182 yards passing, and two touchdown passes. And Garoppolo was 7-9 for 123 yards (and both touchdowns) on third and fourth downs. Is Deebo Samuel the best running back the 49ers have? Kyle
