The San Francisco 49ers recently brought in seven players for tryouts, according to the NFL transaction wire. Notably, three of those players were quarterbacks as the team evaluates depth options heading into Week 6 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Players who worked out for the 49ers:
- WR Andrew Armstrong
- QB Quinten Dormady
- WR Erik Ezukanma
- WR Eli Pancol
- QB Nathan Peterman
- QB Desmond Ridder
- WR Antwane Wells
Quarterback is a big concern for San Francisco. With Brock Purdy already ruled out due to a toe injury, the 49ers are expected to start Mac Jones—though he continues to battle knee and oblique issues and is officially listed as questionable. That leaves rookie Adrian Martinez as the only fully healthy quarterback on the roster.
In addition to the quarterback situation, there remains uncertainty among the receiving corps. Ricky Pearsall will miss his second straight game with a knee injury, while Jauan Jennings is questionable with ankle and rib injuries.
